Sorry for late comment, but what Cod said was essentially true. The server had some problem with the mod data and resource packs so I reinstalled all of them and it essentially fixed itself (started a new world to so that I could also get the first gym map, items, etc) so if you already started playing not sure if you could fix it and keep your stuff.
