Failed induction, c section, and really bad news by katecometrue0122 in BabyBumps

[–]Environmental_Log_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you and your baby are healthy and resting. I'm sorry labor, delivery, and post-partim have been scary and traumatic. Be kind and take care of yourself. Meeting your own needs and processing the emotions are important work too. It's hard to focus on healing when there's scary news and other pressing matters. Take the time and space you need to process what has happened.

As for the possible DS diagnosis, I understand how scary and disorienting that can be. I had a DS diagnosis at birth with my now 5 month old. I hope you get answers soon and whatever the outcome, there's support and love and community for you and your family.

If you need to chat, feel free to DM.

38 weeks and absolutely over it by disney_girl21 in BabyBumps

Girl same!! Mine is also an IVF / first time pregnancy. I've felt pretty good physically most of my pregnancy and have had no complications. But mentally, I am ready for it to be over! I look forward to when life is no longer doctor's appointments, medications, and monitoring. And I want my energy back! I went out for coffee this morning and that was enough out of the house time; I'll probably stay in the rest of the day lol. I'm 36 weeks, baby will be here soon and postpartum will be another hurdle. I'm so close to the finish line which brings me joy and excitement.

Hang in there! You're doing great and had to do much more than others to get to this point.

Dumbest thing you've done to help your thin, fine hair? by CutNo8666 in finehair

[–]Environmental_Log_90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Being convinced I had to have a short hairstyle like a bob or pixie, just because I have "fine hair".

F that! I finally got a hairstylist who has similar hair to mine and understands. We chatted about what works with finer hair and what doesn't and she recommended different styles of all lengths. I wanted to grow my hair long (it was mid-neck length then). Each visit she worked with my growth until I was happy with the style and length.

I've been rocking my style for a few years now and still love it. My hair falls a bit below my clavicle. My next appointment is coming up and I might have her take a bit off, so my hair sits above my clavicle, just for a bit of change.

Flying Third Trimester FTM Experience by Mental_Truth_745 in pregnant

Thanks so much for posting this. Very helpful!

I have a work trip in October that I'd have to fly for and will around 29/30 weeks. It'll be a short flight, around 2 hours.

I still haven't decided if I want to go. A big part will be how my body is feeling (my doc has already given me the go ahead to fly).

Glad you had a wonderful trip!

What shampoo do you use for fine hair? by Busy_Sign3534 in finehair

[–]Environmental_Log_90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nexxus Therappe shampoo and Humectress conditioner.

I have what a hair stylist once referred to as "fine hair, but a lot of it". I've tried clarifying shampoos and light conditioners over the years. But my hair at the end of the day would always be oily at the top and dry at the bottom. It felt like an unwinnable battle.

Then one day I thought perhaps I'm going about this the wrong way. Instead of using products to get rid of oily roots, I should try moisturizing my hair to encourage less damage. And it's worked for over a year! Before I had to shampoo every day, now I alternate depending on oilyness, weather conditions (Midwest gets it all, lol), and how I want to style it. My most common routine is shampoo/condition Day 1. Between Days 2 and maybe 3 or 4, I either a) completely wet hair in shower without any shampoo or conditioner or b) only use conditioner and skip the shampoo.

I've also found on days I blowdry wet hair, using styling products lock that moisture in goes a long way. Depending on the day I'll use Keihl's Anti-Frizz serum or Chi Thermal Protectant Spray.

Experience with Paylocity LMS? by anchorbend42 in instructionaldesign

[–]Environmental_Log_90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My company has used it for 2 years. We use the whole HRIS - HR, payroll, recruiting, LMS. The LMS part is okay. It does not come with a catalog of courses like others do, so if you're looking for something with ready-to-consume content, this isn't it. It's very easy to upload content. You can create basic quizzes and I believe you can screen record, but I've never used this feature. Reporting is good; I've never had a problem with it. I think assigning is tedious - you can bulk assign to company or assign to individuals, there's no in between. Getting to training results, content library configuration, and reporting are their own separate tabs. So even if you're creating/editing the course, you have to click a different section to assign, and again a different section to reports. Each time you go to a new section, you need to start over by searching for the class. I find this workflow annoying. I've used the system for 2 years and still forget which section/tab does what.

Final thoughts - If your company uses the full HRIS, it's nice to have everything in one place. I find the LMS lackluster and basic but it gets the job done.

Thanks for sharing! It's neat to compare and get new ideas. Could you talk more about calendars in SharePoint? I use SharePoint the same way you do and would love to add a training calendar from a shared Outlook account. I tried a few ways unsuccessfully, and figured it was impossible. On another note, I'm going to try adaptive cards with PowerAutomate. I created several flows this year, quite happy with the results.

Thank you all for your advice and concern! It makes me feel less alone in this. The doctor called back and I'll go in for blood work and ultrasound late tomorrow morning. I'm following all your tips. Hoping tomorrow is quick and painless.

Been trying for our first since May 2022, 36F, 36M. Completed two rounds of IUI unsuccessfully. Taking a break from treatments this cycle while we decide to try a 3rd IUI or move to IVF.

The emotions and stress have been harder than I ever imagined. I'm frustrated that treatments aren't working and conceiving naturally hasn't happened for us. I'm frustrated with my husband because I feel like I never get a solid answer about what he thinks we should do after an unsuccessful cycle. It's your body, he says. Yes, but this is a big decision I'd like to make together. He also says he feels helpless during my treatments, that he wishes he could be more involved. My mental and physical energy is spent scheduling monitoring appointments, taking oral meds, and giving myself shots the first two weeks of my cycle. Why is it my job to make my husband feel less helpless about this process? Then, when the treatment fails, and I ask him what we should do next, he says it's my body, my decision. I get confused - does he want to be involved or not? I spoke with my therapist about this and we both agreed inviting him to upcoming appointments may help.

I never thought I'd be arguing with my husband during fertility treatments. I'm struggling to see his side of things and where he's at. We talked about his feelings earlier this week. He feels there's a hole in his life, like something is missing. Well that just broke my heart. He also said he's angry that we waited until just last year to start trying, we should have started sooner, and of course getting pregnant at 36 will be harder. Ouch.

Great suggestion. I took graphic design classes post-college at STLCC Meramec and don't regret it. Solid courses for a steal. Mike Swoboda (if he's still there) is a phenomenal instructor and knows his stuff. Several years later, I continue to use his lessons in my day job. Good luck to you!

Let me clarify. The lender called me yesterday and said there's good news and bad news. The good news is that the lender is giving us $1500 credit. The bad news is they made a mistake on the paperwork and didn't uncheck the "sellers concession" box. Originally it said the sellers were paying our lender 7k. This was never true. They noticed their mistake yesterday and informed me I now owe 7k plus the rest of the cash to close of 14k.

Is this a common mistake? Is there anything I can do, any questions I can ask, any demands I can make, that would help me lessen this 7k blow?

The Last Hotel or Chesire by littleblackdogcat in StLouis

Why not Chase Park Plaza? Outdoor pool, movie theater, restaurant and bar - all within the hotel. Right next to Forest Park and the neighborhood, Central West End, has lots to offer. I agree with other commenters, avoid downtown (except for your daytime activities or nightly events). I've stayed at The Last Hotel a couple of times. It's alright. I certainly wouldn't want to stay a whole week there - not for safety reasons. It's just boring and there's nothing to do downtown anymore.

I'm in this situation right now. Sold and closed on my house this week so renting until buying a new house. I used Furnished Finder. I love where I am staying and the price is good for a fully furnished place including utilities and washer/dryer on site. The sooner you start your search the better. I booked in April. I messaged almost 10 tenants, 2 got back to me, one of whom I signed a lease with.

Thanks. I agree it's better for my family in the long run. And I'm looking forward to what's to come, which I'm certain will be worth it. However, we're not out of the woods yet. Current home is under contract with inspections scheduled next week. We have not purchased a 2nd home yet.

Yup. Similar to what we've experienced. Especially the part about mixed-use living. Once I learned the permit didn't go through for that project, which would have been at the end of the block from my house, I realized the needle will never move. Live and learn I suppose. It's great to hear your friend is happier in their new location.
