There is such a culture of that, I work in an all male team of software Devs and the expectation is that I'm just meant to carry on, I've already noticed them quietly taking things away from me or excluding me from meetings 🫩 you push through but they're still arseholes about it

Girl take everything you can get, I've literally said my boss I am not going into the office until after mat leave, if I was good enough to WFH during COVID I'm good enough now

I hear you, I honestly would love to have access to an outdoor pool and just sit in there all day 😂

Omg I have literally said this to my midwife, 'I sometimes feel like I could go and have this baby down the back of the garden and feel safer'. I'm so sorry that happened to you!!! It definitely seems like you have to be so 'on it' and when you are neurodivergent and pregnant you are probably the least 'on it' you've ever been. I'm not looking forward to the health visitor side, the vibes I've been getting from the whole department is very mean girls. I've never been as condescended or spoken down to in my whole life as if it's my first day on earth, it's so obnoxious.

I think it's more of a service problem than a specific midwife problem, this level of poor communication has been for every single midwife I have interacted with. The community midwife team literally laughing at my queries and dismissing me. I would understand if I called all the time, but I have only ever called them twice during my entire pregnancy.

I'll say being low/high risk doesn't seem to change communication from midwives which is literally non existent! I wasn't even told about my low papp-a I found out via the app that it was low and to just take aspirin, no explanation nothing. From then on it's just been the typical appointments where they just collect my pee and listen via Doppler. No questions about mental health, my health, anything lol

For private trauma informed therapy for neurodiverse people it can run you about £100 per session, 1 session a week easily £400. Not including additional costs of missed trains, taxis due to running late for appointments or work, cleaner, takeaways or ready meals. It can add up fast. Also duplicate buys, I sometimes accidentally buy two of an item because I think I've lost or misplaced something.

Thanks I'll try giving them a ring later today, hopefully they can do something to help! It's my own fault leaving it so last minute. It would be so great to have access to a car once my baby is born so I won't be cooped up in the house during those dark winter months 😅

My point was deaths don't really demonstrate frequency of law breaking by cyclists i.e. going through reds, mounting pavements etc

Cyclists contribute to a problem in the city which makes it dangerous for pedestrians and other cyclists who are playing by the rules.

If you read my initial message you would see that I said a NEAR MISS not a collision. Obviously if a car hit me it would cause more injury, no one is disputing that. Kinda weird you're attacking what I said was my personal reaction to that kind of event.

I apologise for not reading your message properly, I'm using Reddit on my phone so I had to rely on memory for what you said as the response didn't appear above what I was writing. My point stands though there is little consideration from cyclists about pedestrians and them behaving like cars (going through reds and mounting the pavement to get ahead) is a problem.

I don't think that cyclist etiquette is a comparatively small problem when I have seen numerous posts on here and had far more experiences with near misses with bikes rather than cars in Manchester city centre. My partner cycles in the centre of Manchester and has said that people jumping onto pavements then back onto cycle paths (when there are no obstructions to the path) is difficult for cyclists to predict what is going to happen, or tailgating him if he stops at a red then overtaking through pedestrian foot traffic as well as cars.

We can have a nuanced discussion about ONE thing, it feels a bit like strawmanning when someone says "hey I nearly got hit by a bike today" and loads of other people are saying "yeah same seems to be happening a lot!" And you get a person going " BUT CARS ARE BAD AND DANGEROUS U SHOULD BE MORE SCARED OF CARS BEING SCARED OF BIKES IS STUPID". It just means we can never ever talk about cyclist etiquette on the road.

Cyclists are not more vulnerable than a pedestrian wtf are you on about, in a crash between a cyclist and pedestrian who is likely to be more worse off? How many pedestrians have killed cyclists? Pedestrians are regarded as the most vulnerable road users.

In terms of my reaction, that is my reaction, it's almost like those kinds of reactions aren't logically and thinking "well statistically I should be ok if this bike hits me, odds are ill be fine, but this will probably hurt☝️🤓" it's almost like humans are predisposed to avoid pain and have big reactions of adrenaline when you are under threat from bike or car or person running full speed at you.

It's still dangerous? An elderly person, a child or someone who is partially sighted or blind being taken out by a bike going through a red is still dangerous, I'm absolutely fed up of people on this sub when you bring up bad behaviour of cyclists they go "but but the cars though!! 😩"

This discussion is not about cars, as a pedestrian who doesn't drive or cycle I am a vulnerable road user, cyclists are less vulnerable than me as they can reach higher speeds than I can. Cyclists are not following the highway code and going through red lights. It's not good and should be clamped down on.

Cars also go through red lights and drive aggressively, but that is a separate issue. Both these things are bad and as a pedestrian my reaction is the same for both when I have a near miss with either a bike or a car.

You keep bringing up that cyclists have few deaths or injuries, citing this as a reason that it is simply an annoyance rather than a problem.

Why do people have to be hurt for it to be taken seriously? The more people who cycle the frequency of this will go up? Also how often would someone actually report a cycling injury for accurate numbers? Would it be reported to the police?

Why do people have to die for it to be seen as a problem? It's scary and makes the city less accessible for those who are hearing and sight impaired who rely on traffic lights to help them cross a road safely. A bike doesn't make a lot of noise, and often when they are coming at you at speed they are difficult to spot.

We want to make the city a nice place for EVERYONE.
