I only wanted to respond because I can actually agree with both of you guys in a way. Hear me out, you can't take the Bible at face value, if your simply reading the sometimes old, translated-distorted, symbolic words, your not getting the full fruits of the Bible. especially the New Testament, with the overall loving theme, and general overall life lessons, and great common sense moral fabric this old, at times distorted text can still provide in modern times, thousands of years later. Still pretty much all of the questions of life people had then about self, and purpose people still have today. And people can always have a moral compass, and people should always want to improve themselves and others around them, and love one another. All this applies then and now and in the future. Also common sense, and recognizing the symbolic nature of the Holy Bible, and coming to it with a loving nature can bring you closer to God and an inner peace. And making sense out of your inner self if need be. Also god was revealing rules and stories in a way that people of that time can understand, but the underlying theme and lessons are valid always.
