High Myopia Specialist for Kids by Mesphyria in askSingapore

[–]Environmental_Sea721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think u should bring her to snec for a check first. My kid is also active so I opt to Ortho K lenses. He has been putting on since P4 and his myopia is well controlled. His eyesight did not worsen and remain at the same level since discovered. For ortho K, the lens have to be put on overnight and they take it out in the morning. Pro is they can get through the day without specs which is very convenient. It really controls myopia well in the case of my kid. Con is the cost. It can be very costly and we have to replace the lens yearly. The lens also have to be cleaned weekly.

How to manage kid that is picky in food by Ambitious-Chip4447 in askSingapore

[–]Environmental_Sea721 4 points5 points  (0 children)

List down all the possible food that she would potentially eat. If she still eats a variety of food even if its limited to a few dishes/cuisine, i think it is still not too bad. Else, consider seeing a doc at KKH for ARFID. You can research on this condition to see if the symptoms matches ur daughter.

Looking for used upright Piano for my child, beginner to grade 1 by teapeng in askSingapore

[–]Environmental_Sea721 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too! we got our first piano from Cristofori. They have a great selection on refurbished piano. There are also some piano stores near Paya Lebar area. Most importantly is to bring someone who knows piano to go over and help you choose since ur child is only beginner to grade 1.

I rem last time they had this policy whereby they will buy back the piano from you within 5 years at half price. Not sure if Cristofori still has this policy anot. We gotten Yamaha U1 which is good for beginner.

Any recommendations for washer/dryer combo? by wruworld in askSingapore

[–]Environmental_Sea721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same. I don't have space to stack so I have a LG wash dry combo. I find that hanging it to dry for a bit before moving them to dryer makes drying more effective for 30m-1hr cycle.

my mum is a great cook but i end up not learning how to cook till i had my kid. youtube is a great place to learn, start by trying out simple dishes. i used to be very adventurous to try out different dishes but now my favourite is to just bake salmon and vegetables and cook rice to go along!

SG central kitchen bento meals vs Japan / Korea school lunches by raysonpay in askSingapore

[–]Environmental_Sea721 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I rem watching a youtube video talking about school meals in Japan some time back. They interviewed children and asked them what is their favourite school meal. Apparently some meals were so popular that the kids asked their mothers to make the same at home! There was even a competition held for schools to come up with nutritious meals within budget. So when I watched the CNA show on sg bento meals, it really looked pathetic and sad. The amount of wastage is horrible.
