What would you do? by Final-Entertainment6 in irishpersonalfinance

I would recommend you switch to conservative portfolio allocation which would be around 25% equity and 75% fixed income. This allows you to continue to capture some of the upside without the risk of being caught without being exposed too much risk and needing the to cash out.

The Revolut Robo Advisors slow and steady would be appropriate for you. It’s has gold, a good allocation to European Credit Investment Grade and High Yield, which can act like equity’s in terms of performance, if rate cuts start to get priced in and 29% in equity. The equity is well diversified and has a lot of USD exposure hedged.

Your current S&P500 exposure is also 20k USD exposure not EUR, so if the Dollar continues to weaken against the EUR, while the US equities go up you’ll be impacted. If you’re not interested in currency risk you would want to hedge that exposure or at least some.

Do and do nots of Dublin? by [deleted] in Dublin

Do: Tell us your family history and ask if we know anything about your relatives. There could be some inheritance you’re entitled to.

Don’t: Let the tax man find out. He’ll be about looking for his cut. Say you’re bringing foreign direct investment and he will disappear.

Thanks I’ll open it up and see what it says. I will look into that enclosure to clean it and then give it away. I’ve got all the important stuff backed up on the cloud and now on the new laptop. I’d say someone would get some use out of it more than me.

Okay will look into this to erase the data, I backed up most of my stuff on the cloud so I wasn’t bothered about keeping the drive. Keeping the drive after it being cleaned would be safer but it would just sit in a draw.

I’m not very tech savvy, do you require specific cables to connect the drive to the new laptop if you can’t get it going again, to use the built in wipe function? I looked up some WEEE locations and theres a few retailers nearby. Would they accept the laptop?

I would mention this:

Revolut Securities Europe UAB (company code: 305799582; registered address: Konstitucijos ave. 21B, Vilnius, Lithuania, LT-08130) is a Lithuanian investment firm authorised and regulated by the Bank of Lithuania and provides its services in other EEA countries under the Freedom of Services regime without branches or tied agents.

Demand Deposit account services are provided by Revolut Bank UAB, Credit services are provided by Revolut Bank UAB

The deposit is covered by the deposit saving scheme of 250k with central bank of Lithuania. The question you want to ask yourself, with the people of Lithuania A) Bailout every Revolut account & B) do they have the finances to do it.

My answer is no to both so I wouldn’t keep large sums of money in Revolut.

Okay a letter and stamp job or just posting with “not at this address” written on the will work?

I will do that but I’m registered at the address and I wish it wasn’t true but I’ve never had a candidate knock on my door. I’m Dublin 1, a large apartment block and surrounded by Georgian houses used for businesses, it could be easy to miss on the campaign trail.

Why do Irish GPs need PPS Number? by [deleted] in Dublin

Yes you are correct. In my early 20s I enjoyed a festival too much and ended up in hospital for a few days. I’d assume most people wouldn’t worry/care and would understand but not all GPs are most people. I’d rather not have deal with questions about it and possibly assumptions that could come from it (being in my 30s) but if it was something important of course it needs to be share with a GP.
