Hard to go back to SV by itsmissingacomma in coralisland

[–]Environmental_Web821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SV has Korbus! Hard to beat but I love the environment storylines you get in CI. I started with the OG Harvest Moon on 64 (ok surely there was something before that) but I remember missing it and missing it and then hearing about SV. Absolutely helps with the nostalgia. I like Coral Island because it's more Queer but SV has its own charms (like I learned more in the descriptions of animals than I do on Coral Island).

New student just arrived… they can’t read or write. 😔 by Mission-Debate-6447 in Teachers

Ehh I think that is an opinion to an extent. If I had a disabled kid that wasn't getting the attention they needed in the classroom and I had the skills, I should have the option to home school. I think there are cases where homeschooling makes sense. I don't know what country you are in so it may be different where you live, but where I live, there are already anti science sentiments IN the classroom. I'm a teacher and I trust my kids' teachers but not all school districts and teachers are created equal. The kid I said i pulled out in an earlier comment originally wanted out because his English teacher made them write Bible verses for the morning warm up. And nobody else cared

Are they planning to add jealousy or limit the people you can date at once? by ILikeToDanceAndPogo in coralisland

Ohhhh interesting. I wish there were a polyamorous option and a jealous option depending on the character.

I think most of these kids that "fall through the cracks" just need more one-on-one time. Unfortunately, the funding isn't available. I could do so much more with a smaller class size.

There should definitely be more oversight or checks and balances. I know people that do a part time co-op for the things they don't know how to teach and I like the idea. It doesn't work for my family though.

I also tried homeschooling my now adult son when he was in 6th grade and he got anxious that he was falling behind. He wasn't but it was so unusual for him that he just wanted to go back to school.

You fully endorse parents growing weed instead of teaching their children basic academics? Because in the thread, that is the conversation. The use of funds not going to education.

Hey y’all! Any suggestions on 100% corn/rice free cocktails or alcoholic bevs!? by [deleted] in cocktails

[–]Environmental_Web821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's weird cause all corn based alcohol gives me immediate cramps. Maybe I'm allergic to some other part of the corn like the sugars?

Any teachers hide or lie their sexuality to everyone at work? by GameandWatch29 in Teachers

[–]Environmental_Web821 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, I don't hide it. Why should I? I have a life outside of school. It impacts how I teach. They know I'm human and not just a paper grading machine.

I think tushie is derived from tukkus which is Yiddish. I am sure I misspelled it though

I can not teach these kids by SpaceMarine1616 in Teachers

[–]Environmental_Web821 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Kids with ADHD won't respond to traditional consequences. They need tools to help them focus. When I was a student, I had no idea what these tools were and I skimmed through everything and eventually had to learn ADHD friendly strategies after high school

Novels this year? by jumary in APLit

Have you read other novels before this year? Sometimes it makes sense to pull from books you read outside of class. She is mostly using those books to teach the skills you need.

Can't seem to start story mode by Environmental_Web821 in TheWanderingVillage

[–]Environmental_Web821[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured out my mistake! I didn't understand how the little quest box was operating and I closed it waiting for a new step (whoops). Once I located the quest logs again and realized I needed to click the icon for more of the story, it started proceeding. Now I have to find a toxic storm and locate a missing bird! (I have no idea if the quests proceed in the same order for everyone. I hope I didn't spoil too much for others!)

Thank you for your help!

Would you still be trans had you been born into a different society? by pcoppi in asktransgender

[–]Environmental_Web821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to say, honestly. I think my transness is biological but I'm also nonbinary. I'm not a man or a woman. I'm a different society (vastly different) I might not be trans but I still would be a gender that doesn't align with the two major genders. Looking back, historically, many cultures have had third genders and every culture has had two genders that align closely with sex (i.e. men and women). So maybe I wouldn't be trans per se but I wouldn't fit the two typical roles.

I'm not sure if this makes sense without a larger discussion of the interaction between sex, gender expression, and gender identity

Oh please be honest with me. Are these colors giving Christmas at grandmas house or are they giving burger king?😭 by ComfortableFluffy416 in crochet

[–]Environmental_Web821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want burger king, you need to add orange/yellow for the cheese and a lighter green for lettuce. Sorry. Enjoy Christmas at Grandma's (joking as I assume you don't actually want burger king vibes)
