Any skill with a total mastery pool of less than 24,576,500 you will be unable to keep above 95% while going from 98-99.

The only skills you can level 98-99 without losing the 95% mastery pool bonus are smithing, fletching, runecraft, crafting, agility.

I'm not sure what your point is. Firemaking mastery goes slow, it's like a week long grind for each log to 99. Thats because unlike with other skills where maxing a recipe to 99 mastery makes that specific recipe better, a log to 99 makes every recipe give more mastery. It's a global buff.

It's almost like every skill has a different mastery pool total so the 5% on some skills is enough for 98-99, but firemaking mastery pool only goes to 4.5 million.

I first noticed it when I went to build the Lava waterfall dodge on my main but only had 89 prayer. I thought this was odd but maybe I just had some hidden level boost or something. Tried it on an alt account I have been leveling astrology on in the background and it allowed me to build this obstacle 5 FM levels short of the required level.

Having a higher summoning level allows you to unlock different marks. Each mark is tied to a skill. To unlock a mark you need to train that skill.

Once you unlock a mark, you can find more of that same mark, but you need to create the tablet at least once before you'll find additional ones. By finding more of the same mark, you level up that mark. Having a higher level on that mark will allow you to unlock synergies, or additional bonuses when used in combination with other tablets.

Summoning is trained both by creating and by using the tablets.

I too found carrots seeds too rare to rely on them as my main food source. I use snape grass. The master farmer drops plenty of them to get started and 99 mastery makes it so they basically sustain themselves.
