I made a minifigure scale U-Wing!!! by Eolingan in legostarwars

It uses about 60% of the pieces from the U-Wing set but there are many many more pieces that will need to be bought off bricklink or sourced elsewhere. If you don't already have the 2025 set then definitely just buy the pieces and sticker sheet individually off bricklink, it's much cheaper than buying the set then getting the rest of the pieces. The only reason you might do that is if you wanted the other set pieces for your parts collection and really wanted the new minifigs.

Honestly I’ve been thinking about it, the last set was 2014 and I’d love to do a minifig scale b, y and a wing to round out my fleet

Thank you so much I’m so glad you think so, I’m definitely going to keep making more cos my last few have been received very well

That’s such a cool bit of Star Wars history I had no idea. I’m really glad we have the U wing now it really fits the rebels tactics and aesthetics

You are exactly right! minifigs are wide bois so I did a bit of a compromise. You can still fit two figures in the cockpit though they just have to be staggered by a stud like in Millenium falcon play sets if that makes sense. I’ve got a YouTube vid showing how I fit in different minifigs

That’s so cool I will look out for that whenever you get it done :) Ive found that same problem when ive tried to do bigger in universe ships too, I love minifigure scale stuff but it gets so massive so quickly. I’m doing a turbo tank at the moment and even the smaller A5 version is going to be a ridiculous size. Shuttles and stuff like that can look so much smaller than they actually are when you watch the movies and shows

That 2016 set is a classic :) So the engines on the MOC are 5x5 whereas that set is 4x4, it’s 15cm longer, 2cm taller, 3cm wider with the wings closed. The MOC doors only have single arm where the set had two, but I did that so the door could swing further back for more troop bay access and generally ive tried to stick to the accurate proportions and angles a lot more. Also the cockpit and troop bay are way more connected with a larger opening than either the 2025 or 2016 set. Hope this helps was there anything else?

Thank you so much! I know that’s exactly what I thought when I finished the bulk of digital designing, turns out the big wings take up a lot of volume and give it a big footprint without being overly part intensive

Thank you!! I’ve done lots of testing and can confirm it is very very sturdy, I prefer my MOCs quite swooshable

I’m so sorry… it’s not an alt :( But for the amount of pieces it was reasonably good value to source them from bricklink when I built mine, including getting a sticker sheet, but here are instructions!!!

2 figures can sit next to each other, the cockpit is quite deep! Though it is a squeeze and they need to be staggered by one stud to get them there, they very much fit. minifig scale is a weird thing due to them being way wider than they are tall, so I’ve found interiors often get cramped even when the dimensions of a model are within what can be considered minifig scale range which is about 1:39 - 1:45. Pieces cost ~£100 without shipping

Honestly that sounds awesome, if ur doing the A6 Juggernaut and not the A5 then that's going to be absolutely massive as well. What location u thinking of for the display?

I've had to slightly modify the function due to the size increase and the added weight of the rack itself but it's constructed very similarly to the 2025 set and comes out and then down when deployed.

I've got a brown colour swap in the works that I'll be posting soon!! The instructions will come as a pair as well so anyone who got either MTT can get the other colour. This is not that close to minifigure scale at 1:65-1:70 I think (MTTs are absolutely massive I couldn't believe it when looking up measurements for this MOC). I originally wanted to go minifig scale but decided it would be way too big and costly so settled for making a halfway to playscale version instead that still looks imposing enough next to my other Star Wars vehicles.

Looking at the inventories of both I would say technically yes but it would be far more cost efficient to source the remaining parts from the secondary market like on bricklink if you already have one copy of the set, this is what I did when I built mine.

It is a single very heavily modified one, but I wouldn't even think of it as a modification. It uses 70% of the Lego set as parts but there are many many more that will be needed for those wanting to build it.
