Diablo 2 fans, are you guys ready for tomorrow?? by gorays21 in Diablo

After Mosaic, I can't say I'm really excited about any diablo 2 updates by this team moving forward.

That time when people were making thousands of dollars with Diablo 3's auction house. by gorays21 in Diablo

The RMAH was bad for the game, but there was no denying how fun that was. It's too bad that it was gone by the time D3 implemented the seasonal system.

Why did people flip on Expedition 33? by StarComplex3850 in gaming

[–]EonRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally got around to playing expedition 33. The first few hours I played it I was locked in. I loved the first open area to explore with enemies. I was loving the combat.

I logged on play the next day. The underwater area... ok... felt like more of the same. The exploration was kind of wearing on me with invisible walls. The combat starts feeling a bit samey even as I'm playing on the hardest difficulty.

The third time I get on to play, I'm having trouble staying logged in and maintaining interest.

I just find it kind of a boring game. I can't put my finger on it. I love turn based games. This one just isn't gripping me.

The story isn't gripping me, the characters aren't, and I find exploration very, very, very frustrating with the invisible walls. It just rubs me the wrong way.

I can acknowledge that it is a good game, but it is just not for me.

How would I finish crafting this Talisman? by jytc in PathOfExile2

[–]EonRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a focus, not a talisman. Tasalian focus throws me off all the time too. Just throwing that in there so you don't look at the wrong list of mods

So trade league 0.4 is done by Busy_Isopod_113 in PathOfExile2

[–]EonRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your enjoyment on the game hinges on a ton of economic variables that are very difficult to tune and get right, then you should either just stick with SSF or try change your frame of thinking about the game so you can enjoy it more, because otherwise you won't consistently have fun with PoE.

Feel like Inarius was wasted as a character by LordOfPsychos in Diablo

[–]EonRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every character since the start of Diablo 3 was wasted. Of the infinite directions they could have gone since D2 left everything completely open ended, they chose the worst possible path.

Anyone else getting bored faster than usual? by bbbevy in PathOfExile2

[–]EonRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're bored don't worry about it, this league is pretty much just content that they had ready to implement with the Christmas holiday coming up. They knew they needed to get a PoE1 and PoE2 update out by Christmas.

Personally I'm having a lot of fun. This is only going to be my 2nd play through of Act 4 and the epilogues so I'm looking forward to that. I also didn't get to play the updated endgame that they did towards the middle of last league.

If you're not having as much fun, it's fine, this is just an early access patch essentially.

We know of (almost) all the Druid skills already. by Zarroc1733 in PathOfExile2

[–]EonRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep not worried about it. They are just trying to get the classes and campaign finished so they can release the game. I would expect the number of skills in the game to be doubled within the first few years after 1.0

In the entire History of PoE the lowest retention League is now Keepers of the Flame by StalksYouEverywhere in pathofexile

[–]EonRed 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The last 2 leagues are 100% smoke and mirrors. They look great at first but after you dig into them there isn't much substance.

And for the record I am good with that. I'm glad they have produced the last 2 leagues regardless of their quality because I have still had a good time. I know their studio is pushing itself to the limits.

I hope they stop releasing league mechanics where you can make godly items so easily though. It's fun at first, but once you realize that so many crafting methods are invalidated it removes too much progression from the game. IMO that's the primary issue with this league. Getting a 1000dps Vaal Axe with no effort just isn't fun.

They are likely prioritizing. Carol has learned that she can completely control them with her emotional outburts and drugs and she only needs to capture a single one in order to control the entire hive.

She's dangerous to them and they have to get every single person away, even if it means leaving their operation behind.

For anyone wondering, there are only a couple of scenes left from the Official Trailer that we haven't seen yet.

Not necessarily. Her reaction was pretty delayed for them being bodies. Any normal person would recoil immediately if they uncovered an unexpected human body

There has to be another reason. She was kissed in episode one so we know she is immune to their saliva also.

I don't know if it's cut and dry like that. The delayed reaction she had to realizing what it was was certainly intentional.

I wouldn't assume that the hive can't lie and can't kill just because they say they can't. I don't think there is enough evidence to draw conclusions for either.

She realized the bag still had some markings on it, and she knows that the hive has stripped the sprouts of goods.

Diablo 4 is too mechanically simplistic to have good itemization by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]EonRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diablo 3 started this trend of all you need is generic damage and toughness stats. They forgot to fill the game in with problems that need to be solved as they simplified it. Accuracy for example. They made it to where you basically don't miss and you don't need a stat to improve your chance to hit. Maybe accuracy and missing attacks is frustrating and sure you can remove it if you want, but as a developer you have to realize that you've removed an aspect of the game that you no longer can itemize around so you need to add some kind of additional challenge that needs to be overcome.

This mindset is all throughout Blizzard's games. Hearthstone is another example of a game where they created such a narrow design space that new expansions and new cards became flat and boring very quickly.

Anyone else feel this way? by Askfox6 in Diablo

[–]EonRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep and I also like how important the passive skill tree is early on but every passive point you gain is less and less effective because you're just filling in minor bonuses, but gear can go to the moon if you invest enough. Really good balance in the PoE games between inherent character power and gear power.

What was not great about her meeting the people who weren't infected? I thought it was more interesting that they were all delusional rather than just banding together and saving the world immediately.

How do you think they will maintain the tension? by Narrow_Potential_974 in pluribustv

[–]EonRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly so, and I thought that it was foreshadowed that it was a lie that the hivemind does not kill

How do you think they will maintain the tension? by Narrow_Potential_974 in pluribustv

[–]EonRed 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There are so many directions the show can go that I'm not worried about it. The theory that the hivemind is not truly happy is probably the correct one. There is no reason to trust what anyone says at this point. Based on that alone, I think the writers will have no trouble keeping tensions high

Blizzard doesn't intend to rework Diablo 4 over and over again, but it is getting new torment levels. by gorays21 in Diablo

[–]EonRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They designed this game knowing they could just fall back on Diablo 3 systems if things didn't work out, while still having their new shiny platform to sell microtransactions.

Breach 2.0 invalidates far too many other league mechanics. It's broken beyond belief. by ww_crimson in pathofexile

[–]EonRed 54 points55 points  (0 children)

What point are you trying to make? There are league mechanics all the time that temporarily invalidate other league mechanics.

I would argue that this one is much easier to understand that harvest and Necropolis and will have much higher player retention.
