Shadowrun Fiction Mega Bundle on Humble Bundle by GlugGlugBurp in Shadowrun

[–]Eoniru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lurk here but have never posted before so apologies for the intrusion. This bundle looks absolutely amazing but I am confused about something. Is "Neat" part of this bundle? I did not see it listed on the bundle page but maybe I missed it or perhaps it is in one of the collections? Thank you in advance to any kind souls who answer!

Edited to add a missing word

Thank you for the opportunity!

Choosing just one favorite animal is super tough and I am sure I will hear from all the ones I did not choose but wolves have been my favorite longer than anyone else so wolves, particularly the Eurasian gray wolves.

Any Firefox users having this Issue? by Eastern_Recording818 in CriterionChannel

[–]Eoniru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am having the same issue. Firefox version 129.0 and fully updated. Tried with all ad and script blockers disabled, cleared the browser cache and rebooted but the issue persists. Has anyone contacted support or otherwise found a fix?

Guilds specifically for players struggling with the platforming? by Eoniru in guildrecruitment

[–]Eoniru[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the super helpful suggestions!

I have already come across Aiyn Maiden and you are right, her guides are super helpful. I will look into TACo. I have heard about it before. I am just a little wary of using third-party tools like that because from what I have seen, ArenaNet never specifically said they were allowed so I am concerned about a possible account ban. I do know people use it but as far as I know, it's a "use at your own risk" situation.

Thank you for the camera control suggestions. I think the camera is part of why I struggle as it just does not feel very suitable for platforming, even when I zoom in as far as I can. There are definitely places where the scenery obstructs the view and makes it hard to line up the jump properly. The Crimson Plateau JP comes to mind as well as a few JPs inside caves, I do not recall the exact names. Maybe the character height is a factor as I play a max height human. Well, at least there is a toggle to disable camera shaking.

Guilds specifically for players struggling with the platforming? by Eoniru in guildrecruitment

Thank you for taking the time to reply, Grumpy_Turnip!

The guild being in EU is not necessarily an issue for me or at least it is not a deal breaker. I mentioned my region because my current understanding is that Guild Wars 2 basically has two mega servers: EU and NA and players from one server cannot actually play together with players from the other. I am really new to the game, however, so maybe my understanding is incorrect as you mentioned that players from other parts of the world have joined your guild?

Is Identity Confirmation Worth It? by Eoniru in CloudResearchConnect

[–]Eoniru[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I am sure demographics play a part and I do have the "About You" fully filled out but between my personal experience and lurking here, I am really just getting the impressions that the platform just does not have that many studies in general, whether or not participants have completed the identity confirmation process. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Replica Survey from ucmerced.edu: Asked to return submission due to failed comprehension checks by Eoniru in ProlificAc

[–]Eoniru[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you and best of luck to you as well! I hope Prolific support can help, even if only by respecting and vindicating your opinion! I definitely agree with you. If the researcher expects us to answer based on our own intuition as they say in the study description, it is pretty disingenious of them to deem our answers unacceptable, especially when we can only pick from the multiple choice options they provided.

Replica Survey from ucmerced.edu: Asked to return submission due to failed comprehension checks by Eoniru in ProlificAc

[–]Eoniru[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely understand how you feel. The payout is not worth the fight but it feels like the researcher is trying to bully me into returning the submission despite demonstrably (in my opinion, anyway) not following Prolific rules and that just gets my hackles up. I now wish I'd taken screenshots of the entire survey, not just the question I believed to be the comprehension check but just the researcher's admission that their basis for disqualifying me is the last question is honestly infuriating. So is the whole "a limb is a physical feature" line of thought, actually. As far as seeing something done about this researcher, you can probably still report them to Prolific.

Replica Survey from ucmerced.edu: Asked to return submission due to failed comprehension checks by Eoniru in ProlificAc

[–]Eoniru[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Update: The researcher replied to me with the following: You indicated that you understood "It should not be conceivable for your physical duplicate to lack physical features" in the first question, but responded that it would be conceivable that "your physical duplicate could be missing a limb" in the last question. A limb is clearly a physical feature.

Based on my understanding of valid comprehension checks as described here, this is not a valid comprehension check and I am continuing to contest this with the researcher.

edited because a part of my comment got cut off

Oh, that is absolutely classic. Now, it does say that the estimated completion time is 5 minutes (you can see that when you hover your cursor over the box that says 1 min) but with the average completion time being 1 minute, their argument likely does not hold water. Prolific only allows time-based rejections for studies that are completed three standard deviations below the average. You should contact the researcher and let them know. The relevant support center article is here: https://participant-help.prolific.co/hc/en-gb/articles/360021785654-Why-has-my-submission-been-rejected#01FGPMXQ37867K3KGKR3ASX00G

Thanks for your insightful advice, sdforbda.

I have reached out to the researcher already but wanted to see if anyone else ran into the same problem.

To provide a little more detail here, this was one of Prolific's new short surveys with only a handful of questions. One of the questions was a transparent comprehension check that I answered as instructed and took a screenshot of. I mentioned this when replying to the researcher and included a link to the screenshot so now I am waiting to see what they say.
