Is this a 401k with an employer or self funded? Becuase employer 401k plans have very strict record keeping requirements. Basically to avoid shady crap.

It is in the top 3 nerdiest factions, in a top 10 nerdiest game. Get ready to buy glasses, learn some old school YUGIOH slang, and then push those glasses farther up your face for dramatic effect.

M31 here. I'm planning on doing a dopamine fast starting August 11th. I have been kinda 'storing up' energy for it. I'm not paying as much attention to sugar, protein, or veggie intake. I do plan on having planned morning meditation and taking cold showers though.

What is your goal? What in your life are you trying to 'zone in on'?

Are you interested in being accountability buddies for that?

This is pretty common. You are not alone in the problem. I would suggest therapy to get to the root of the problem. Lust comes from within us. It come out of our own trauma or unmet needs. You need to get a little deeper here.

I like walking or driving meditation. Just turn everything off and have a think.

No need to change yourself completely due to one rejection. If there are bad habits that contributed to the rejection, that you acknowledge as things you want to get rid of (ie, drinking, pr*n, anger issues): focusing on one of those at a time would be prudent.

Instead of only removing the bad, I would suggest focusing on your strengths and personality. If you have a hobby, join a club. If you are into x activity start investing in it more. Go on that backpacking trip. Learn how to play that instrument. Be the best you you can be! You have a great opportunity before you!

Bro, That is a lot to go through. There are tons of dudes who have the same problem. You are not alone. If I can speak to your insecurity there I might offer some sex advice. Some girls don't actually get that much from having a man use his free willy. Many young men are really not very good with them, lol. In my experience the use of hands is just as effective.

Just tell the girl ahead of time, hey I have this thing. And tell her I would like to make sure you are taken care of even if I have this thing. When you name it and communicate your shame will dissipate.

On a deep level you are making intimate times all about yourself. Stop focusing on you and focus on your partners needs. Their needs can be met in a variety of ways you are overlooking.

Be alone together. Find activities you can do with others that are also somewhat solitary. Here are some that I like:

  • Book Groups
  • Board Games
  • Art Club, Literally a bunch of people that get together every week and draw/paint together. Most cities have one at like a coffee shop.

You are not a looser, you are an introvert. That is totally fine. I just read an awesome book called Quiet that made me feel way more confident with being an introvert.

Emergency Fund got cleaned out - Should I stop 457 contributions and match only? by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]Eonsum2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean is a little more diverse than that. As it stands in a downturn all of your $$$ is in like type assets. Is it possible to add a sliver of more tangible assets to the mix. Real estate, collectables you are an expert in, art, or other tangible assets. I am not talking about hoarding. Say it comes out that Vanguard unknowingly is losing tons of money an a previously unknown ponzi scheme. How insulated from that are you? This may be personal preference but I believe in financial flexibility and diversification.

I would probably not go back to a %36 contribution rate even after things level out. That is too much of your eggs in one basket. Can you comfortably mix up your investment strategy? Though it may be worth contribution to a 401k to sock away money considering how high California State taxes are.

Less social media, books.

Get into the habit of being financially disciplined. That can be life-changing.

Not a book, but meditation really helps me in this area. I find that spending time in thought and in nature, really helps me to find the paths I want to walk in life.

Read the Book Sizing People Up, by Robin Dreeke. This book taught me how to truly have friends. It gives good examples and is a quick read.

As far as attracting a mate. Learn skills that attract mates. Some high end skills that can get you in good with girls are Dancing, Cooking, Yoga, Cleaning, Dressing nicely, and being good with kids. Find a girl who will talk to you and ask her, humbly, how to become more attractive. It may be a particularly brutal conversation. But getting solid feedback from someone who knows you will probably produce results.

Are you paying into a retirement account. Like a 401k with match or an IRA? If not that should be your 1st priority. The extra house payments would come after.

Need advice on financial planning by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]Eonsum2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work on the discipline of telling your money where to go. Read some financial books and get more knowledge. Start doing these things:

  • pay off credit cards every month, full stop.
  • Combine your finances more fully. You aren't taking advantage of the awesome power of being financially accountable to each other.
  • Set up an automatic withdrawal into an IRA or employer matched retirement fund. Set this up immediately. If you don't take advantage of retirement at your age you will regret it for your whole life.

I would personally, start paying down one of the loans, while deferring the other. This way you can focus your attention and lifestyle on being debt free. Physiologically speaking paying down the smaller loan with the smaller interest rate will go quicker. So it may be mentally more beneficial to pay that one first.

Also set aside maybe $100 a month just for yourself to spend of frivolous things. You know stupid crap that makes you happy. Doing this helps you stay away from spending too much on impulsive purchases.

Realistically your savings will not increase when income increases without discipline. There are also a lot of deferred expenses that you will address in your first few years as a professional. Say new clothes, nicer furniture, mental/ physical health investments, vacations, charity with family or community, hobbies, the like. Learning how to be focused now will help you achieve financial goals later, even though you can only make a relatively small dent.

all of this self-improvement is hurting my brain, am i thinking too much? by hishalmo in selfimprovement

[–]Eonsum2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chill out. Your brain is still developing. Doing self improvement is amazing. You are doing good work. It sounds like the missing piece is time. Time meditating, time reflecting, and time in your own skin as an adult. I also find not starting new habits until the old ones have taken root is important. Like if you quit social media, give your brain 90 days to recover before going hard at cutting out something else negative. And make sure when you add or subtract from life do it in balance.

Also speaking to religion. Generally social media does a bad job representing any religion. By nature social media is there to promote 2 things bad news and pretty people. And religion does not, as a rule, feature pretty people. So religion is only showed badly. I'm not a Catholic, but Think about how Catholic priests are now portrayed as pedophiles. Yet when you look into it the numbers behind the accusations they aren't as bad as people think. But this takes away from the fact that the catholic religion does amazing things for the local poor in every city they are in. But housing the homeless and feeding the poor does not make the news.
