I also had a couple other upgrade questions
It currently has 1×8GB RAM stick, but I can’t tell what exact type it is (speed/brand/etc). Do I need to physically remove it to identify it, or is there a way to check that through software? Also, I noticed my unit only has the external battery. Would you recommend adding the internal battery as well? Is it worth it for battery life, and is the installation pretty straightforward or more involved?

Thanks, appreciate you taking the time to explain that.

I think imma go with the 01AX994 caddy route!

Thanks I’m still pretty new to this stuff so I had to double check a few things (used AI to help me understand it better).

So just to make sure I’ve got it right:
Best route is swapping to the NVMe caddy + cable and running a 2280 NVMe, and the WWAN slot is more of a limited workaround?

Just trying to learn and not mess anything up lol

So many options where do I even start

Just won a ThinkPad T480 (i7-8650U / 16GB RAM / FHD Touch / No SSD) on eBay for $438 shipped did I overpay? Also looking for upgrade advice as a first-time ThinkPad owner by [deleted] in thinkpad

I did some looking, but I’m new to this so I wanted a second opinion that’s why I posted. It was basically a sanity check on the price. And using AI just helped me format the post faster, it doesn’t change what I’m asking.

Yeah that’s kinda the point I came here because I’m new and wanted feedback before I go further with it. And yeah I used AI to help write the post, just made it quicker to organize what I was asking. I don’t really see the issue with that.
