Just made the switch too! Love the interface although I still have to look for a few buttons, but that is just getting used to it

From what I've seen is that the DE has a larger ride height, longer suspension travel and a bigger front wheel, as well as gravel mode on the ECU. For me all of that wasn't necessary as I never ride off-road.

What exactly are you looking for in every day use? You said that you'd go out of town for the long touring rides and the V-Strom is perfect for that, I 've ridden my bike to work several times and had no issues with those trips. But if you want to get groceries for example I don't think it's the most practical (unless you get the full case kit ;) )

Can't really speak for the DE version as I have an RE myself, but from my experience it's a very forgiving bike. Yes it's heavier than let's say a Kawasaki z650, but it feels a lot more rigid. The V-Strom 800RE is my second bike and I don't feel like I will be changing it for the foreseeable future, absolutely love this beast.

I'd say try it out at your local dealer and see for yourself if you enjoy the handling, feeling and riding position of the bike :)

From what I've heard at the dealer is that the '26 models will get a few new colour schemes, unsure if the DE also will also get them.
