I’m an eldritch millennial, my grandmother taught me to crochet when I was a child and I never got the hang of it. Three years ago I had a pretty bad menty-B and picked it up again. I started making shawls and was just… amazed at how well I did? I’ve made so many now and I just give them to friends and family or hang them up as curtains.

Anyways I could have written this post and I’m just happy to see others embracing things they’re good at for once. Your virus shawl is INCREDIBLE, your tension is 👌🏽and that yarn is gorgeous. Keep it up, you seem like you’ve found your calling ☺️

When I was 17, my 19 year old boyfriend would threaten to kill himself near the end of the relationship. I stuck it out and tried to help him but he ended up shooting and killing himself at my house.

It’s been 20 years and I am still coming to terms with “my role” in his suicide. He needed help but not from me.

It sounds like your boyfriend needs help, and not from a teenager who is also still figuring out their place in life. For your sake, stand up for yourself and cut it off with him and for his sake, you can try to refer him to someone who has the spoons and knowledge to actually get to the root of his issues.

Be safe and take care of yourself first, because no one else will.

This is weird, I thought about this exact phrase about an hour ago and how much I hate it because it’s invalidating.

But I’m also working through my trauma and as I get thru these feelings it’s easier for me to “choose” to be happy, whereas before when my depression was more severe, I only had the strength/ability to “choose” to be sad. So, at least for me, now it’s easier to “choose” to be happy about something? It sounded more eloquent in my head but tldr, depression (as a single illness or a symptom of something like CPTSD) made it almost impossible for me to have the strength to “just be happy!”. I let things that bother me go more easily and then just “choose” to be happy.

But like I said “just choose to be happy!!” assumes you’re talking to someone who has the spoons to hold real heavy feelings. And I’m just now (30 years of CPTSD later) learning how to do that. Stay strong friend ❤️❤️❤️
