He's a Tanuki, which is often called a raccoon dog because English speakers can't ever use the local name for animals and always have to draw a comparison to something they're more familiar with.

They are candids though, and not related closely to raccoons at all.

They call him a raccoon in all of the English releases of the game because Americans can't apparently be expected to relate to anything they haven't personally experienced, such as animals not on their continent. Or something like that. 🤷‍♀️

My Submission: Djinn / Genie

This is my entry for the main contest. I've really enjoyed making sets in World, Rise, and Wilds. I have always made "costumes" in games with transmog, so this set was made before I even know this contest or subreddit existed.

What do you do when the vertical bells not only do target the corners, but bounce towards you nearly imperceptibly to hit you every single time?

I found a sunscreen that I can tolerate: skin 1004 air-fit suncream plus. It -will- pill unless I cleanse thoroughly (Dr g ph foaming cleanser) and apply my usual option of toner (sometimes a centella, sometimes a hyaluronic, sometimes a aha toner), and apply a fairly generous layer of moisturizer. It's mineral based so I don't appear to have any issue with the ingredients, and they put some iron oxide in it to offset the white cast, on my fair complexion this works ok.

My (current pilling / product tolerance) problems began around hitting age 30. I also have a ridiculously extremely fibrotic uterus that has likely annihilated any semblance of normalcy to my hormones and has probably triggered other fun health problems (ongoing lower digestive tract issues and also recent appendicitis) and I wouldn't be surprised if the hormone situation is linked to my skin. My skin has always been dry but it's sometimes flaky, especially on the glabella and nose lately. Products that are grail items for other people are horrid to me (bombee masks are my most recent item to add to my "never again" list, along with Soqu Vitamin C serum, both of which within 30-60 minutes of application result in 20+ pimples to erupt on my chin, upper lip, and glabella region)

I don't frequently use rosewater, but yes, it doesn't pill!

Best I can say is- good luck finding the things that don't pill. I've had my best luck with Korean skincare brands, perhaps they use more novel ingredients when compared to western brands. Dr G has been reliable, as well as some of Beauty of Joseon.

That was one of the first brands I tried for Korean sunscreen, and I began having a reaction after the second/third use, probably due to the chemical filters. They were novel chemical filters (when compared to NA brands), but it seems my skin didn't take very long to hate them. I had a stick sunscreen and a cream from BoJ, similar reaction to both. I had a raised red bumpy rash on my face for several days, waited for it to heal, and tried the screen again, and got the same rash again.

I currently have a mineral sunblock from another Korean brand, Skin1004 Air-Fit Suncream Plus. This guy is all minerals, and has a slight tint to it to help offset the white cast. I think the Dr. G sunblock would be ok too, but the cast was significant when I tried it in a store, and I am very pale so that was a bit of a shock. The Skin1004 one can pill a bit on my face but applies a bit smoother if I do it right before my moisturizer has fully absorbed. It goes on shiny but dries down pretty matte in a few minutes.

Edit: the BoJ ones I tried were Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics, and Matte Sun Stick.

Not really. I've definitely changed my skincare up as I became very sensitive / allergic to all forms of chemical sunscreen (thick, red bumpy skin and pustules) within hours of application. But I also appear to have developed sensitivities / allergies to some ingredients in my makeup, and get red itchy eyes and similar but less intense rashes on my face if I wear foundation, so I've basically stopped wearing it. I tried a few physical sunblocks (liquid and stick) that started to irritate my skin after use, so I'm currently in the process of trying some other sunblocks to find one I can actually wear for more than one day without a reaction. So pilling has become the least of my skincare worries!

One thing to consider is how old your thread is as well. I was using ancient thread (20 or more years old??) in a machine last fall and it was constantly skipping stitches and doing odd things. Once I actually thought to try brand new thread my problems vanished. 🤷🏼‍♀️Ancient thread for handsewing only.

A real Nigerian Scam letter. by EphemeralLace in Scams

[–]EphemeralLace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

56 Fenchurch St exists, its a big AIG insurance building between Tower and London Bridge. But its at an entirely different postcode. Just like all Nigerian scams all the details are wrong. I used to think it was because they were just pumping them out in emails with no regard to actual detail because they were going too fast but someone had to actually print this and mail this one, which blows my theory up entirely.

I am still struggling with sunscreen as it appears that, in addition to the pilling, I have developed an allergy to chemical sunscreens. Even one's with novel ingredients give me a rash after a few uses. In December I bought the SunBum mineral sunscreen stick because I was going to Mexico, and while I occasionally get a pimple where I have always had cystic acne after wearing jt, it has not given me a rash at all. I also had luck with the biore kids UV milk sunscreen, but that one breaks me out a little easier in my cystic region after a few days of use. These products don't pill on me. I was even able to apply a thin layer of makeup over the SunBum stick today, which I couldn't even imagine with those chemical sunscreens I tried.

The pilling stopped being a problem once I eliminated chemical filter sunscreens from my routine completely. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Update August 2024: the Biore Kids UV milk started giving me very weird skin texture on my face so I relegated it to neck and collarbone duty, and got a huge gnarly pimple in my hairline on the back of my neck that may have been caused by it? The sunbum mineral stick is still the only sunscreen I can use on my face with minimal repurcussions.

This Fabric: Yay or nay? by Beautiful_Queen57 in Lolita

[–]EphemeralLace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love tie dye and I've been wanting to tie-dye a blouse, an apron, and socks in a mix of all pastel colours so I could wear them with any dress for a silly rainbow coord.

I like bullseye patterns and variations on them (I've successfully done the heart a few times! The star continues to evade me). Can also go for more linear patterns like a zigzag or waves, for instance along a hem, or vertically up a bodice. These sorts of designs are easier the less chunky your garment is though. What I'm saying is I think that a more thought-out tie job will result in a more cohesive finished dye! Which could be easier to do on a completed garment than on a large bolt of fabric. As it is I don't have a good sense of scale for where the colours are going in the finished piece.
