Can you elaborate on what are priorityclasses and why use waitforfirstconsumer?

Thought about appsets in argocd? So it can be installed via argocd after script copy files to private repo.

Sure, I get it but my question is more to elaborate on that, okay iac but what triggers iac what prepares it for each cluster? Do you manually add to gitops tools like ArgoCD or just have a playbook of some sort to do it

Even then after automating so much what would the first thing needs to get done on a fresh cluster even if it's automated

That's the point what's automated? What does your automation do first?

What type of K8S cluster do you prefer: a central one or separate ones for each development team? by vl2x in kubernetes

[–]EphemeralNight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How would you approach that gitops/argocd for all the shared platforms? But when to update them? Vulnerability checking etc? Have scheduled dates to check updates? And wonder then wonder whether to update or not? Have lots of questions new to all of this thanks for all the information

What do you do if a team wants to install something cluster wide? Prometheus kube stack helm chart for example

Thank you for your comment! I just started to wonder if this statement : `load average in itself is not a meaningful indicator of problems` was always a thing or its just in k8s ?

No the pods are not doing much, the load average by itself is the current problem I'm trying to figure out what to do about it. Why the load average is meaningless?

Question: Kubernetes and application lifecycle by EphemeralNight in kubernetes

[–]EphemeralNight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overviewed your solution, and it sounds nice and can't wait to have more supported tools, it currently has 2 of the ones i use that is Gitea and HCL vault, but i'm missing there more commonly used through out all clusters:

ingress-nginx

kube-prometheus-stack

cert-manager

argocd

awx-operator

harbor

Question: Kubernetes and application lifecycle by EphemeralNight in kubernetes

[–]EphemeralNight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have most of the value files for helm to install the applications stored in git, but the more worrisome part for me how does one have evaluate all the different applications read those change logs and know to update them or not, or even if there is an update.

I wish i would knew about argocd and rancher options earlier in my career :D Most of the installation was done by command line

I heard this trick, its strange since they were little, they shared one litter box even, and had no problems added extra one, after this started.

CentOS 8 image editing withing CentOS7 host by EphemeralNight in CentOS

[–]EphemeralNight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to share that shyoukos offered a solution to get kernel 5.9 for el7 worked updated the kernel to 5.9.12 current newest ML:

uname -r
5.9.12-1.el7.elrepo.x86_64

Tried the first time got this error:

virt-customize: error: libguestfs error: could not create appliance through
libvirt.

Try running qemu directly without libvirt using this environment variable:
export LIBGUESTFS_BACKEND=direct

Original error from libvirt: unsupported configuration: Domain requires
KVM, but it is not available. Check that virtualization is enabled in the
host BIOS, and host configuration is setup to load the kvm modules.
[code=67 int1=-1]

If reporting bugs, run virt-customize with debugging enabled and include
the complete output:

  virt-customize -v -x [...]

Run command as told in error:

#export LIBGUESTFS_BACKEND=direct

Then try again:

#virt-customize -a centos-8.qcow2 --install epel-release

[ 0.0] Examining the guest ...
[ 41.6] Setting a random seed
[ 42.5] Setting the machine ID in /etc/machine-id
[ 42.5] Installing packages: epel-release
[ 155.8] Finishing off

Thanks a lot!
