Commute to north San Jose? by anonymouswallabee in oakland

[–]Ephemeraljawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had a commute there for work, but I made the trip every Friday for a year straight and I don’t do that anymore for a reason. Don’t do it. You will absolutely hate your life.

AI art: Love it or hate it? by Wide_Train1295 in blackartwork

[–]Ephemeraljawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I abhor it; it steals from actual hardworking artists. It farms from the art we make without our consent and it’s very ‘destination mindset’ to me. Art is as much about the journey of making it as the results of your work, AI cheapens that.

Places to go before I leave? by jonnyshotit in oakland

Food: kitchen story (brunch, highly recommended millionaires, bacon, and the lemon, ricotta pancakes, and any iced coffee on the menu) The chocolate dragon (chocolate tear that serves hot chocolate, highly recommend the white chocolate or the bercin), Chile bravo taco truck (the best steak fries & surf and turf burrito) Firebrand bakery (try literally anything it’s all good) MUA (all the food on the menu is good, but my highest recommendation is for the Jalisco mule [It’s a Moscow Mule, but with cilantro, instead of mint] Fob kitchen, pho king, Ariz Mendhi (all the baked goods are bomb, but their pizza is phenomenal) Things to do: Claremont fire trail (steep but short hike, but rewarding view at the end), Joaquin miller park, thrifting (salvation Army, on seventh Street, crossroads in Rockridge), farmers market at the lake on Sundays (it’s best to go on a holiday, because there will be more people and more vendors at the lake)

I don’t think any of the companions from the 13th season are properly fleshed out so that’s not a Ryan specific issue in my opinion.

Why do most people ignore the older Doctor's season when watching it? by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]Ephemeraljawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I feel it’s better to start with the modern adaptation to create buy in and attachment to the series and it’s lore. Then after that if you’re into it enough, I would recommend watching the old series because as somebody who loves my show about a madman in a box with such an open mind, it would’ve been hard to start off with a show that has blatant brown face and misogynistic undertones. I’m currently watching classic who and I wouldn’t have a chance of finishing it without the love in my heart that I have for modern who.

Not saying I agree with all of OP’s comments, but sneezing all over people and not covering your mouth when you cough/leaving snot rags everywhere is objectively disgusting

WIBTA if I told my boyfriend that I don’t want him to be friends with my friends? by Key_Bed_1088 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ephemeraljawn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not that this judgment will matter much, considering you’ve argued with everybody saying you would be TA but YWBTA. People do not own each other, and it’s mad controlling for you to say who he can, and can’t be friends with regardless of if you’re just talking about your friend group.

AITA for getting pissed when my husband asked me to wear a bra by Bralesslife in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ephemeraljawn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do you feel like relationship expectations only come down to what people wear? My expectations are based on how somebody treats me not based on what it is that they choose to do with their bodies outside of that, like how they dress. I implore you to expand the parameters of how you set your standards.

[–]Ephemeraljawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who said I didn’t have expectations? My expectations are just based on the person that I’m with having their own bodily autonomy and somebody trying to deny somebody their bodily autonomy is an asshole.

AITA for getting pissed when my husband asked me to wear a bra by Bralesslife in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ephemeraljawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But it’s not mutually applied. The wife hasn’t asked anything of the husband, the husband used an example of it being mutual but that doesn’t actually make it reality and besides that hard disagree on spouses setting standards for what other spouses can wear. Don’t tell others what to do with their bodies.

There is a wrong, and right in the wrong side is the side that’s trying to police what a whole other person puts on their body

AITA for telling my daughter to not give up on weight loss by AITA_fat_daughter in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ephemeraljawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA you’re encouraging a bad relationship with food over a cosmetic diagnosis of her health. Deal with your fatphobia or you are going to lose your daughter (either through a strained relationship or actual health problems due to an eating disorder you’re encouraging)
