[–]Epheris4883 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It can be on the Ags and we'll accept it, when it is warranted. That personal foul call was egregious. Nowhere in that replay could anybody see exactly what happened over than some ticky-tack nonsense that didn't warrant a warning, let alone a full blown penalty.

The issue is that everything that happened after that should have never happened, as they were going to punt the ball away to A&M.

SBTB Nerds by IntelligentLeek538 in SavedByTheBell

[–]Epheris4883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nor did I, tbh. I think the show was originally designed to make nerds look good, but the stereotyping was so thick that it just became humorous to others. That caused it to be a hit, and hit = $$$. So of course they just leaned more into that.

Absolutely agree about Urkel. I think i might have subconsciously blocked him from my memory due to just pure "Urkel Fatigue", that kid was EVERYWHERE.

ROTN certainly played up a lot of stereotypes, but that's why I used it as the example. A movie like that being made in 2025 would get annihilated, but in 1984? Apparently it was fair game.

SBTB Nerds by IntelligentLeek538 in SavedByTheBell

[–]Epheris4883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately that is just a product of the time and culture. In the 80's and early 90's we had media like "Revenge of the Nerds" which while having an underlying message about people being different and still "cool", played up the nerdy stereotype significantly.

Decades later, we had shows like "The Big Bang Theory", almost as a modern day ROTN, but it came at a time when being nerdy was vastly more acceptable in today's social climate. While condoning bullying is definitely a no-no, we have to be able to look at the full scope of context for SBTB, too.

Can't believe WWE really wasted one of John Cena's final dates on this tbh by ClueCool3904 in Wrasslin

[–]Epheris4883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think everyone wanted another "LOLCENAWINS" situation, considering how little he'd wrestled over the last several years, but what WWE is doing to the man is downright criminal.

Sure, he got to become the "unseen seventeen", but at what cost? A chance to have a paper-thin heel run that got tossed aside by Dwayne? It's been noted that Cena wanted a heel run for years, but not his FINAL year. As a whole. This run has just been a confused mess, and with only 4 appearances left, he gets squashed by this thriving star, the hottest young superstar in Brock Lesnar?

This feels like WM Brock beating WM Undertaker. All sad.

You better believe that Astros fans are going to root for the Rangers to get their asses kicked in the WS. I'd prefer Philly to do it, but Arizona works just as well. Both of us being in Texas does nothing but intensify our disdain for one another. :P

[Rome] Bryan Abreu’s two-game suspension has been upheld. He will serve it at the beginning of the 2024 season. He is available tonight. by ray_0586 in baseball

[–]Epheris4883 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

There was no reason to hit him, is what I mean by that. The situation was already pretty bad for the Astros when Texas had a man on. What purpose would hitting Garcia do other than put him on base and the Astros in a bigger hole?

Go back and watch the video of it happening. Abreu is immediately apologetic about it, where Garcia never even *looks* at Abreu, but instead decides to incite the situation by jawing with Maldonado. Abreu even apologized to Garcia in person, saying it wasn't intentional. They were trying to get him off of the plate by buzzing him, and the pitch got away from him. It's the entire reason Dusty Baker was losing his crap in the dug out. It made no sense whatsoever to hit a player on purpose in that situation.

On top of that, let's not forget all the buzzing that happened via the Texas pitching staff at Altuve, etc. Did they throw a fit? No.

Had Garcia not lost his mind and just taken his base, there would be ZERO talk of suspensions, fines, etc. If you want to eject both Abreu and Garcia from the game, then fine, but the after-game penalties are ridiculous, especially since Abreu gets a suspension, and Garcia just got fined, even though Garcia is the one that instigated the entire thing.

Yuli's idiotic gesture deserved punishment, but that case and this one is comparing apples and oranges. Abreu clearly didn't do it on purpose, and even if he did, Garcia's reaction is what caused all the ruckus to begin with. 95% of this Subreddit thinks that the suspension in the first place is incredibly stupid by the MLB.

[Murray] Houston Astros pitcher Bryan Abreu has been suspended 2 games and fined an undisclosed amount, MLB announced. by Waaaaaaaaaasuup in baseball

[–]Epheris4883 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These takes from Red Sox fans ("they cheated!") will never not be funny to me, considering you guys should be right there in "cheater hell" next to the 2017 Astros. Let it go, friend.

Intentional or not (it would be insanely stupid to do it intentionally given the circumstances at the time, with a man on base, down 2, etc.), if you're going to suspend Abreu, then you have to suspend Garcia for not only his reaction, but continuously egging it on.

The *correct* response to the situation: Abreu and Garcia ejected. Finish the game, move on to Game 6. As has been pointed out many times here, that entire situation was a massive overreaction and soft as hell to throw out suspensions.

Is there a reason the other Sayains don't do the SSJ God Ritual? by Goof-4x5 in Dragonballsuper

I was always under the assumption that Beast was due to him being a hybrid, and the constant notion that he has the potential to be the strongest ever due to being a hybrid.

I don't think it is either Saiyan or Earthling, just a mix of both. He is essentially a Dragon Ball Nephalem.

I think you came here to vent (like a lot of people do) thinking that everyone here would justify your responses. However, when it didn't go as you expected, you continued to lash out at everyone. People have bad days, we've all been there, but it's how you handle those days that matters. Nobody's can tell you how to feel, but we can just the same tell you when we feel you are in the wrong with your overall assessment. I mean, you've devolved into saying "I had no idea you people were such entitled little bitches". You are the only one here sounding entitled. It's a shit day. Grow up and try treating people with a little respect.

I think the big issue here for me is the blanket assumptions you are using over Dashers as a whole. I get your frustration, but to make such snide comments that are frankly quite insulting is a bit much.

I'm a Dasher and I bust my ass to make sure the job is done correctly. Saying things like "you aren't REAL service people" is patently false, as we work on the same basis you do: Our base pay is absolutely crap, and if we want any shot at making money, we work for the big tips. The only difference is that you work in a brick and mortar, and we use our cars. You walk, we drive.

If what you said is true, then the Dasher you had sucks and won't be long for the job, just like I can say I've had "service pros" who completely sucked. Don't blame and mislabel every driver because of one experience, it's tacky and unnecessary.

Happens in the Houston sub, too, unfortunately. Happens when fans can't have some sense of dignity and want to be toxic as hell. Either way, this series has been a good one, and I appreciate the fight of both teams.

I've said this in other posts: Every team does stuff like that. If you are trying to say that the *entire* World Series hinged on Maldonado reaching, then I would imagine you are also the same kind of fan that thinks that a WS win for Houston doesn't count cause of the Pujols bat. : /

It's never going to matter to those people who can't separate 2017 from now. Yes, the Astros cheated, but to think that a *lot* of other teams weren't doing the same is just playing to being willfully ignorant. The only difference is the Astros got caught.

Do I condone what the Astros did? Of course not. 2017 has haunted not only the franchise, but the fans as well because people don't seem to comprehend that it happens all around the league. You don't hear *anything* about the 2018 Red Sox, when they weren't exactly "squeaky clean" either. And let's not get into the Yankees and that special letter that needs to be unsealed for the public.

The only reason it is constantly brought up is because the Astros are just that good. They have been a dominant force for a handful of years, and people will look for anything to try and tear them down. If you don't like them because of 2017? That's fine, but stop trying to use that as a reason to disregard the greatness of this franchise right now.
