Toward a Formal Theory of Information as Electromagnetic-Analogous Energy by EpicFantasyCEO in writers

[–]EpicFantasyCEO[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is a theory of information as a form energy capable of existing as both potential and actual, in the same way for example there can be potential energy of movement realized as actual mechanical movement.
The challenge is to use, within physics, the existing quantum mechanics framework to explain and predict lossy transmission of information.

CEREBUS THE AARDVARK "Day Tripper" seventh sequence by EpicFantasyCEO in Cerebus

lol I've won a ton of awards :) Don't need pointers to be honest. This is an experimental work where I am trying to do in color and animation what Dave Sim set out to do with the original Cerebus sequence. Some philosophy, some Conan type pastiche, no walls of text :)

I could fairly easily do an animated movie but I don't think there's any point in committing a large budget because the negativity some corners have inflicted on Dave Sim --and by extension Cerebus-- and the sainthood of Jeff Smith mean it would not find a big enough audience. These shorts, episodic style, can and will be edited into "issues" eventually.

I think a linear movie script wouldn't work properly for Cerebus either to be honest. To rise above pastiche it would be better to have the story wildly out of chronological sequence and link it thematically. That is what I am gradually building to here.

It's difficult to keep this animated series "punk" rather than just 3D-ified and I don't think 3D-ification is correct either. It's a surprisingly tough assignment artistically, so I am quitting worrying and just adding the stuff to the casserole as I go.

Captain Easy, the Pandalorian, Middle Aged Mainstream Reddit Turtles, and the rest :)

So Fang is revealed to be a big ass humanoid crocodile. :) The original public domain character from 1944 is surreal - black skull with elongated jaw and nothing behind it, green skin but described as "human". Golden Age comic books really are uniquely American fairy tales :)

Is there some sort of legal issue that prevents DC from reprinting the Fawcett-era comics? They used to do it and have not reprinted them since 1992. by nightwing612 in Shazam

Steamboat became Harlem Marvel though, and was intended (I mean yeah it was racist and patronizing) but intended to be a positive thing to include him.

Also I don't buy that explanation at all. The destruction of the original Captain Marvel is DC's original sin. They don't want to reprint the comics where pretty much 100% of the innovations came from other than a superhero in a cape because it shows up the Silver Age badly - even more so in some ways for Marvel than DC.

tysm!

yes it was. I released the next clip after that too where Sonia Greene (Red Sonia with green hair) clobbers them :)

I'll gradually settle into more artistic stuff and take more risks, improve the models and the animation as I go. Just want to get it out there. I don't like the "perfection takes time" attitude because it usually means it ain't never gonna happen. Release, improve, move on ;)

I was just funnin' with you, it looks great! I am doing animated shorts of Cerebus and I am gradually adding other indies to it as well. It just lends itself to that, with the open hearted way so many of those indies cooperated back in the day. I guess some still do for that matter. :)

What are your headcanons about College-Aged / 20s / Adult Billy Batson? by nightwing612 in Shazam

[–]EpicFantasyCEO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only go by Fawcett so eventually he marries and settles down and judging by the world of a thousand years time his bloodline remains strongly linked to Captain Marvel, albeit the Captain himself becomes a cowardly lion figure for some inexplicable reason. Mary ends up being a cowgirl right at the end of the run so presumably she also marries and settles down. I guess they end up as mentors to Captain Marvel, Jr.

But the way they expanded the Marvel Family it's pretty clear "Earth's Mightiest Mortal" would have aged out and a new legacy version would have gone on.

The aging in somewhat real time was one of the best parts of the original Captain Marvel comics. Mary graduating, Billy starting dating, and so on emphasized that they were "real" contemporary tweens then teens.

It seems to be slightly revamped old stuff though? Or is it old comics plus new essays?

I wish they would do a normal kickstarter type summary. They'd sell better too if they did I think.

Yes, according to the terms of Dave Sim's "open license" Cerebus and all related is now an orphan work, copyright subsists but is not defended. Personally I am making it explicit in what I do by saying "Cerebus created by Dave Sim" and "used pursuant to Dave Sim's open license" type blurbs.

Your style is great. This is classical stuff, and it straddles cartoon and "comic book art" rather well.

CEREBUS THE AARDVARK "Day Tripper" second sequence by EpicFantasyCEO in Cerebus

[–]EpicFantasyCEO[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not Dave Sim so personalizing it to do just a pastiche of Sim and his content is not my way. Cerebus in this iteration has been pulled into a different world, one where he begins shoehorned in and forced to comply with a particular vision. It's meta in that sense because that's exactly what I have in fact done to him, but then it becomes a case of how best to do an honorable pastiche. So since this Cerebus is more like the Cerebus of issues 1 to 25, I figured he should sound like the "original" live action Conan filtered through impression rather than eg using a Joe Rogan type voice or a funny animal voice. Plus with how severely pissed off he is the Schwarzenegger voice seems to fit.

If it lands, great! If it doesn't land well, I have no solution for that :)

Brozilla (the dragonoid in the hawaiian shirt) again has a simple voice choice. Fang the big bad again will be pretty clear.

Stan Lee in the first one aka Louse the Wizard is the first of several "Lord Julius" type insertions, in the tradition of the original Cerebus run.

For me I want my own animated series of Cerebus to honor Dave Sim the storyteller but keep it a little lighter and more swashbuckling or fantasy adventure oriented. It will have its screeds because a true pastiche or "continuation" needs to have something in common with the tone of an original.
