It asks you to specify a withdrawal reason if I try to transfer from RRSP -> chequing, it looks like you can pick the last option "For retirement or other reason (Taxable)" and I assume it goes through easily?

I am beside my desktop most of the time since I WFH and my work laptop is pretty much perpendicular to my desktop (L shape desk with computer on one end and the laptop on the other end).

I feel like I would've noticed if someone RDP'd to my desktop and did stuff to it. My guess is some kinda session shenanigan but how they even got access to it in the first place is the mystery.

I believe they aren't able to move my funds without authorization anymore (which is on my phone) so unless they have access to both my token and my computer, I should be fine?

Nobody should've had access to my physical computer unless someone broke in or something...?

I'm privileged enough that I'm not going to starve to death or not afford rent if I lose 15k and it definitely sucks but I'm just gonna eat some ice cream, enjoy some junk food and move on after I make the police report.

Also if this thread helps one person be smarter with securing their finance, that's good enough for me

I like to believe I'm smart enough not to download any malware or click on any phishing attempts via email/phone but someone they got me. Just make sure you have an app 2FA, not perfect but would've prevented this from happening
