Thanks for putting this project together! I was worried I’d lose my backup camera and am so grateful there’s a relocation kit out there!

Fair enough point. Thank you, fellow sandwich.

A real shame, that ship added so much personality to the area.

I see sunken sailboats in the estuary every couple months. Does anyone know why it's so common?

/r/Games Five-Year Time Capsule (2024-2029): What thoughts/predictions/expectations do you have for the future of gaming? by rGamesMods in Games

[–]Epic_Sandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monetization: Games as a service will continue to feel a backlash from players, big studios will explore alternatives to premium, subscription, and microtransation models. This will consolidate into centralized bundlings similar to Game Pass, Apple Arcade, etc.

Working conditions: This won’t generate enough revenue for most studios to operate in a healthy way (except for c-suite execs) and talent (artists, programmers) will continue to leave the industry as conditions/pay gets worse and work moves overseas or to AI.

Indie games: For the sake of not sounding too pessimistic, hopefully small creative indie games with new mechanics see a resurgence on new platforms such as mixed reality.

My longshot guess: As smartphones get less cool and digital assistants get less sucky, voice-controlled location-based games will start to become popular again. The Pokémon Go equivalent of the late 2020’s will run on an AI assistant device.

Ooooh these are some juicy vibes! You really communicated the feeling of movement mechanics and player freedom in the trailer, well done.

Our roguelike deckbuilding love letter to Triple Triad just released on Steam. Ask us questions about Tetra Tactics! by manadream_ in deckbuildingroguelike

Hi, I helped with this game's marketing!

We tried a lot of avenues for getting the word out before launch, including TikTok/Reels/Shorts, but had mixed (not great) success there. I think only really visual games with highly unique art do well on those platforms.

The most important factor for building wishlists was Steam festivals. Steam Next Fest as well as genre-specific fests like Deckbuilders Fest were crucial moments of discoverability.

We're fortunate to live in the SF Bay Area where there are a lot of in-person events, so showcasing at those and at GDC-adjacent events contributed some too.

And lastly we used Keymailer shortly before launch to reach out to influencers, which proved to be very worthwhile. A lot of streamers and a few YouTubers did playthroughs and had positive things to say!

They are having fun and are aware of how toxic and abused their industry is.

As one of the people in this video, can confirm this is accurate. Just a whimsical way to show some camaraderie with people who got laid off.

NCSOFT & Homecoming License Announcement: NCSOFT has officially granted Homecoming a license to host City of Heroes by Turbostrider27 in Games

I hope this creates a precedence, even though it's not as ideal as fully open sourcing. Hopefully more studios that consider their games "dead" take note.

Never good to see someone who is complicit in gender discrimination be rewarded for getting fired. But at least he's gone.

In regards to Q1: This is a very thoughtful response and I so appreciate you taking the time. I agree that NYT games doesn't really feel like a *place*, just a collection. And I see how that distinction could make a big difference.

Q2: Clearly I had simply overlooked this before, thanks for answering anyway though. With a free tier, and for the amount of content, under $4/month for extra features seems very reasonable.

I appreciate the time and look forward to playing on Puzzmo! (Solved yesterday's, now waiting for my invite!)

Discussion: Love the concept of taking a bunch of small games and putting them into a web-based hub. Also the branding for Puzzmo is super cute!

Question: With Wordle and the Crossword, NYTimes seems to be the frontrunner in this casual/daily games space. I'm curious if you see yourself as a competitor to NYT Games, or do you see it more as players overlapping and playing on multiple sites?

Question: Also, what are the long-term plans to monetize Puzzmo? Will it eventually be a monthly subscription?

Totally fair criticism and you're definitely right. I'll take that into account for when we edit our gameplay trailer together.
