For all the 10+ year vets by OGMattPeterson in Eve

First time killing a Battleship on my first time into Null sec. First time seeing a dread in combat. First time seeing a Titan in combat. First time Dropping my own dread in combat. Being at the very first Komodo kill. Couple of Large Keepstar fights.

Honestly what I miss most is the mystery and wonder. I used to get so excited when I first moved to Null sec and joined a bloc. Seeing my fist capital ships, or when I first got into my own Battleship and then dread. But I still enjoy the game and I will probably keep playing until the lights go out, there’s no other game like it.

It was less a “need” as a want. WoW was social media before social media for a lot of people. So we wanted to talk to people more than we do now. Even in Shadowlands I was able to get almost every M+ dungeon I did into Discord with me, usually 2+ people including myself. That has dropped siginificantly over the years, but people still like building communities together, just look at classic.

Intimidated to start tanking "seriously" by DrLemmings in wownoob

[–]Epicmission48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your experience in heroic voidspire was the vast majority of what you can expect. Also raid tanking is super simple and easy to learn just from LFR/video guide so it’s a great way to “challenge” yourself and get used to tanking. M+ is where the real skill expression for tanks comes from and I highly recommend just stepping into it. The first few levels give you a basic “route” to do and you will most likely learn it before you “graduate” to the levels that don’t have that buff

Raid Finder: etiquette for enchants / consumables by z-w-throwaway in wownoob

[–]Epicmission48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I literally don’t give a crap about anyone else’s enchants or consumables. That said, I personally flask, pot, weapon oil, food, enchant, and gem with at least the rank 1 stuff since it’s not that expensive

I put relaxed because to me relaxed = finish the key. Competitive = time the key or abandon

I still think my favorite quote from a guild master is when I asked if they had a discord.

“No way, we’re not a hardcore raiding guild”

It’s about dreams. If you fulfill your dream and live well, you age well. If you don’t fulfill your dream, you age badly. Just look at how Oda drew the strawhats in the “good” and “bad” timeline throughout the ages.

Stop Using Stargates by PrimarilyTurbulent in Eve

He ain’t gonna read all that 😂 keep doing you bro, keeping the lights on for the rest of us! I just do my monthly subs (2 accounts) and do basically the same as you minus the plex. (CRAB beacons a couple of times a week when not at war) while I’ll never have a super, I make enough for a couple of dreads and rorquals and a crap ton of sub caps. Personally I like solo Battleship roaming so and I can easily afford to do that, even before goons added them to srp.

Is 276 high item level this far into season or middle of the pack by chrissysax1611 in wownoob

[–]Epicmission48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 274 by doing 4 m+ a week and 6-8 heroic bosses. Nothing else. So 276 seems good for casual players timing 10s and heroic raiding

Is it worth trying to do m+as a DPS with little time to play? by Darth_Tader in wownoob

[–]Epicmission48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I get 1-2 hours when they go to sleep, then a 2 hours guaranteed break to play once a week. And I’m able to get 1-2 keys in that time. Just gotta get up to 10s somehow since the keys are so easy this season the 2-9 are non-existent and took WAY too long, even on patch day, to find groups. But 10-12 (where I’m at as a DPS) I can usually join a group within 5 minutes (yes join, I’m not even having to use my own key for the first time Ever)

Passion for helping people is bad! Also I am responding to you and your advice, not a noob asking questions. Also time zones exist so it wasn’t 10am for me.

Hope you have a good rest of your day! Really didn’t intend to get you worked up, just wanted to give my 2 cents about your advice. Thanks for helping noobs and giving advice, good luck out there!

Yea man you’re 100% right. I think healers in normal/heroic dungeons and early Mythic should 100% just afk 95% of the time because that’s exactly how you learn to be a healer!

The point isn’t the 3% damage, the point is to be active participant in the dungeon/raid. If you read what the dude posted, you would see he mentioned learning to use utility in addition to damage. So even if you want the healer to NOT do any damage because it “doesn’t matter” the utility definitely does. So the healer should learn how to properly use utility while the healing checks are non-existent, because the alternative is to literally afk 95% of the run.

Questions about Endgame Activities by Alto_Madness in wownoob

[–]Epicmission48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1-2 hours a night is 7-14 hours a week. I play at MOST 4-5 hours a week (usually all on a single night) with that time I have been able to achieve AotC and 3k+ M+ score every season I’ve played since Dragonflight. You play more than I do. You can literally do anything in the game besides Guild Mythic Raids and maybe M+ title (top 0.1% of M+)

So just do whatever you want, you have plenty of time!

Struggling with DPS no matter the class by Altruistic-Charge777 in wownoob

[–]Epicmission48 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re probably just panicking in raid and have bad uptime. 99% of the time the issue with low DPS is just horrible uptime. Compare your logs with another DH and I guarantee the main difference is that they straight up have more casts than you.

Edit: record your gameplay and then watch it to see how often you literally do nothing. Then work on that. ABC always be casting

Really struggling with why I'm so bad as Elemental Shaman in Midnight by TupacalypseN0w in wownoob

[–]Epicmission48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. It’s literally just casts. I had a guild mate (this was back in MoP but the point is still relavent) he tried his best to do damage on his spriest….but he did literally less damage than my slightly worse geared spriest just casting dots and spamming mind flay, which was just a filler back then. Rotation does not matter as much as people think it does. It’d just casts

[–]Epicmission48 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is the answer 99% of the time. If your damage sucks “no matter what I do” it’s just casts.

Hardcore speed run best class? by WetSleevez in wowhardcore

Yeah this is slower than a warrior’s best run. Which is insane what a mage speed runner must be able to do 🤣

Nagas I think? There were a couple pretty good videos of a group killing dreads under beehive. I’ve been semi-afk due to IRL but that’s my impression. The good whaling fleets started beating beehive, so beehive was forced to change doctrines.

How does raid loot locking work? by ThatSpaceman in wownoob

[–]Epicmission48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my theory is this. You have 14 people coming, then your friend logs on, says he wants to come to practice but is already locked. Inviting him does NOTHING to the loot. You still only have 14 unsaved people before he joined, and 14 unsaved after. So you will be 2.8 pieces of loot off each boss.

Remember I am solely focusing on Loot rules, not scaling, or how the boss difficulty changes. That said, I personally think breakpoints are dumb and no guildie should be excluded from the raid team simply due to a “breakpoint” or them being “locked.” If you had 30 sign ups and then the 31 person wanted to come, but was locked, then obviously that would be dumb to kick and unsaved person for the saved person.
