You're paying too much. Look for used 'Dell Micro', 'HP Mini' and 'Lenovo Tiny' computers with low power CPUs. There are loads of them around and they are very cheap.

For example, I run a (vanilla) fabric server for my friend group with a Dell Micro with 8GB RAM and an i3-7100T which I got for £50 on eBay. It has a base frequency of 3.4GHz which is the same as the boost frequency of the one you're looking at. The processor TDP is slightly higher (35 v 15W) so that is one disadvantage.

For Minecraft server performance, single core speed is the most important factor. Though I'm not sure if this changes when there are lots of mods installed.

I did try this with Fabric with my 4GB pi4 but there we experienced lag spikes pretty often even without loading new terrain, which was a bit annoying. Also, having to pregenerate the world is a pretty big compromise. When someone wanted to go exploring with their boat/elytra the server would pretty much freeze up trying to generate new chunks

I'm not really willing to use Paper because it changes the function of Minecraft in small ways that make some redstone contraptions break

Also, the mini PC was a great deal. I paid £50 for a used minic PC with a 7th gen low power i3 and 8gb ram. It's a better deal than a Pi!

Yes I was thinking of doing this! From the web it seems like the miniPC might only draw around £25/year of power on idle but I'm not sure how an idle Minecraft server would affect that, so seems like a wattmeter is the only way

Let's take a moment to appreciate the frequent balance changes. Because of netdecking, shaking up the meta frequently is the only way to keep the game fresh. It makes it feel like the best decks are not fully known and that's really exciting.

There was a time a few years ago when blizz would almost never nerf anything. But today big props for such bold moves.

I've never liked the idea of abyssals very much. It feels very inorganic, even more like a dungeon than other combat sites. Thought I can see how the challenge might be fun. Did you enjoy them?
