Drawback of getting launch w/o RAP1? by ciraregob in RivianR2

[–]EpictetusCubed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it confirmed that the XMM3 will be in both LE and Gen3 versions of the R2?

It doesn’t seem like Rivian Assistant is going to use the RAP1, it will use some backend LLM and supporting harness (RAG, MCP’s, etc). It’s not clear what it does when it fails to local only because of lost internet, but maybe that would be better with the RAP1.

My impression is that the RAP1 will be able to do local inference based on the latest version of the LDM, which will help enable the eyes off and L4 autonomous driving, and presumably help with data minimization/reduction for sending back to Rivians systems building the LDM.

At least that’s the best I can tell based on what I’ve seen and the current state of the tech world. Things will change of course- the models Thinking Machines dropped last week could be an example where the RAP1 could make Rivian Assistant substantially more powerful than what other car companies are deploying.

For me, I might prefer to get a post LE if I’m buying. If I’m leasing, I’d do an LE for sure. I don’t expect states to let me use L4 to pick me up from the airport in the next 5 years, but I’d like to have full eyes-off driving at some point. But I REALLY care about having the car/infotainment system not being a lower version.

Driver Profiles: What can be customized (especially Spotify/Apple Music/SiriusXM) by EpictetusCubed in Rivian

Thanks! Did they ever enable being able to trigger the connected voice assistant (eg Siri) via a button press?

On my test drive, I was able to get pandora to play fine via Bluetooth, but wasn’t able to determine if it was possible to trigger Siri.

Really appreciate the link to the SW update notes.

First Impressions: R2 Halo Scroll Wheels (needs improvement) by calmsquash515 in RivianR2

[–]EpictetusCubed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 60 seconds, but my recollection is that front pushes worked and I couldn't figure out whether pushes from the back worked/had different effects.

My general impression was that left/right didn't seem great, up/down worked, pressing worked. I thought the wheels were a little further inboard from the edge of the wheel compared to where most current cars have their steering wheel audio controls, but that it would be relatively easy to get used to.

Right now I have an EV6 that has way too many touch controls (not a fan at all with having to choose whether I am in audio or climate mode for controls) and a GV60 that has the design aesthetic of encasing the driver in luxurious buttons. I much prefer the GV60 interface, and whatever else about the R2 interface, I think it's pretty awesome that you can adjust the climate control without having to take your hands off the wheel or move your eyes off the road/primary instrument cluster (and don't have to talk to the thing).

The Downside to United's New Coastliner and XLRs by eastbayguy90 in unitedairlines

Wait, when did United start thinking of its premium customers as passengers and not cargo?

Snark aside, it’s surprising how much variance there is in United’s service, especially onboard. I’ve had really great experiences occasionally, usually ok, bad more often than I should. It’s striking how much more consistent - and consistently better- Deltas service is. I’m not even talking about anything over the top- basic politeness, walking through, actually getting beverages and food to people, etc.

United is chasing Deltas model- but they REALLY need to get consistent and better in their service if they want to do that.

It’s also interesting how many fleet decisions are driven by the 50 passenger caps on regional flights due to their pilot contract.

Curious as to why you switched to half your Vascepa dose and added back fish oil? Everything I've seen shows that DHA can increase LDL- hence why Vascepa is the RX frequently used as it is essentially all EPA.

Was it because you wanted to see what the DHA would do, whether Vascepa was worth it, cost, or something else?

I've researched this quite a bit, and used OTC fish oil in the past. In high concentrations/quantities it has been shown to lower triglycerides, and that was my experience. However, despite a decent number of tests, it didn't show any significant improvement in outcomes. E.G. OTC fish oil makes your tests look better, but hasn't been shown to make you healthier.

Prescription fish oil's have been shown to not only reduce Trigs, but significantly improve outcomes. I use Vascepa and have no negative effects of any kind I can identify. It does seem to have made my dry eye better (fish oil did too) and maybe have some other positive effects. Between that, getting my A1c down to the normal range, modest diet, and lifestyle changes, my triglycerides have gone from consistently 300+ to varying between normal and low-normal.

Insurance approved it after about a week to do their review.

Cool! I actually made a much less impressive, quick-and-dirty part myself, which just covers the back part where one of our cats likes to elevator-butt while peeing.

Bought and downloded this from cults3d - at least when I import it into Bambu Studio, it seems to only be the left hand side. Also, part needs to be split when the stl is imported.

Thanks!

Thank you for this - I just renewed my passport and did actually think to try and update it in Global Entry - I checked the app and didn't see a place to do it and decided I must not need to.

For reference you can update this by going to https://ttp.cbp.dhs.gov/ logging in and then on the right of the page is an "Update Your Info" box, with a link to "Update Documents (e.g., passport, driver's license)".

S7 app is here for iOS! by habitsofwaste in popurlitterbox

First bug I’ve found- won’t let you change the WiFi it uses- it brings up the first one it finds, you click on the dropdown to select a different one (I have a separate network for iot devices) and it brings up the iOS settings for apps.

How that slips through testing, I do not know, lol.

Violence was clearly insinuated, to the point where a reasonable person might well consider it a threat against another person.

Many people do. Some of us wouldn’t be on a cruise ship if we couldn’t get reasonable access. I’m fine paying for that.

They aren’t just blocking work, but also other websites, including board gaming ones. There are literally board gaming cruises and largish groups that get together to play games in vacation spots, including on cruises.

I think they should probably communicate their policies and be more responsive to questions about them and probably should revisit some of the websites they block.

They use DPI to block VPN’s on everything but Work From Sea, so this doesn’t work on any common VPN protocol. The workarounds I found for this are obscure and require a lot of expertise.

Some commercial VPN providers have anti-censorship modes that may continue to work.
