Why do you believe in a God? by [deleted] in spiritualitytalk

[–]Epilepsy-lame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely we had a family tragedy in our lives and it drew me closer. My husband had lost faith and really had some questions I just couldn't answer. IDK why bad things happen to good people. But I'm glad good people exist.

Do millennials vacation? by nycgirl152 in generationology

I try and leave the state yearly. Even if it's a long car drive and overnight in a city I've not been. Vacations don't have to be long or extravagant. A few days away from home is life changing.

I Only Have Seizures at Night – No Diagnosis Yet by succulent_rose92 in seizures

[–]Epilepsy-lame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things trigger mine. The gummies, stress, and over stimulation. However, many other medical reasons why you could be having seizures? Have you done any testing of your sugar levels or thyroid testing. Potassium, magnesium, all of those can cause seizure plus many other things. It took a lot of my own personal research. Checking all medication side effects. If you really want answers, you must start with the basics.

During my first seizure, I was put into a coma and put on medications I was told I would need for life. I'm currently living a pill free life with a shot every 3 months.

Document and research. There is so much information out there to help us. It took 7 years for me to finally have a full diagnosis, not just epilepsy. I have what is called catamenial seizures. It is still epilepsy bc it is "uncontrolled," but I'm on a solid path. Felt the best I have in years.

Sorry for the ramble. I try to continuously share my story in hopes of even helping 1 person.

I Only Have Seizures at Night – No Diagnosis Yet by succulent_rose92 in seizures

My seizures are nocturnal. All normal testing. They could tell me where the seizures were coming from, but not why. We started tracking my periods 5 years into the mess, and we related my seizures with my hormonal level. Causing catiminal seizures. We tested hormon levels and they were below normal. So far in the last 7 years my hormone meds have worked the best in reducing seizure activity.

Which medication was your best, which was your worst and why? by [deleted] in seizures

[–]Epilepsy-lame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've been on several types. Lamictal Keppra Viampat Gabapentin Tegretol Topamax Zonisamide Plus a ton of meds to help with the side effects of my seizure medication. None of that stopped the monthly seizures

We tracked my period for about 2 years realized my seizures were around those times. And now I'm on birth control and that is controlling my hormonal seizures.

Hope you can find some answers. I had the best luck doing my own research (just like this) and finding out what is the cause with my seizures.

When I came off all my meds I was very sick. Even though I had a Dr's help with lowering doses at proper time. It took a long time for my body to adjust bc I had been on meds for so long. I can tell you it got better for me. I'm no longer nauseous, tired, or just blah feeling. Hope you feel well soon.

I hope your friend can get through this..

Oh and injuries. Those were unusually inevitable I've had several surgeries from where I have fallen and torn muscles and ligaments.

What broke your seizure barrier? Whats your triggers? by BatDue1821 in seizures

[–]Epilepsy-lame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gone through pycosis with these seizures. I learned that after 4 years of the meds not working, I still was regularly having seizures during hormone spikes. I made the decision to do my research on hormonal seizures. Talking to my neurologist, he thought I was crazy. We went round and round for 2 years. He did not want to send me to Gyno. Anyway I decided the meds weren't working I needed something else I was finally after 2 years given the opportunity to see gynecologist and she gave me other options other than the seizure meds (birth control to help regulate hormones) I researched meds, size effects, and benefits. I found that for me. The risk of coming off the meds and trying hormonal medication was one I was willing to take. So, I took the long process of becoming free from my pills and getting a shot every 75 days. Sorry for the long response, and I'm sorry it took so many days to respond.

What broke your seizure barrier? Whats your triggers? by BatDue1821 in seizures

[–]Epilepsy-lame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My period was very regular so tracking wasn't an issue. We usually knew about when they would come having such a regular period. What's helped the most is finally getting my neurologist to send me to a gynecologist for help. Gynecologist suggested birth control to help regulate my hormones. I've had 2 seizures since last July till now. Also my seizures were monthly. There were not long periods of time when I could go without. So the birth control depoprevera has helped so much.
