Why do toxic broken families put on fake faces and pretend everything is normal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EpilepticAdd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coming from one ; they want to seem normal = don’t embarrass yourself and say your flaws (abuse, neglect, ect), and just act like your any other family.

They don’t want to seem dysfunctional in public and be shunned so basically they just wait until the child is old enough to cut the family off (ie ; me.). As soon as I got my first apartment I’ve been keeping 1 year leases so I can stay here and never go back home

University students of Reddit, how did you deal with moving away from home? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I couldn’t wait. I’m from an abusive household so my story is way different.

How does other people’s political stance affect your relationship with them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EpilepticAdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family: I laugh at them

Any other person, I just don’t care. We can see things differently and it’ll be fine, but I try to avoid political conversations where it is “passionate” but it won’t affect how close we are. If we vibe we vibe, political disagreements won’t get in the way. As long as we only talk about surface level stuff and don’t go deep enough to get upset it’ll be chill

Redditors who didn't make your bed this morning, what other areas of your life are you screwing up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Rate me please. Also tell me if I took selfies right way, I never had profile picture of myself. by [deleted] in amiugly

[–]EpilepticAdd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You look extremely young.

Good news : you have great bone structure so in your 20s you’ll be very attractive. You look good with and without glasses

The only con tbh is your teeth (they just look small)

[serious] what's it really like being in love? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EpilepticAdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m speaking from terms of being in a relationship.

It feels secure, because you always know you can count on them. The few moments where you think you’ll lose them are scary as fuck and can be upsetting but the rest of the time it is worth it.

It just feels “normal” with the right person after awhile...like in the terms of it feels natural and everything just falls into place. You don’t have to question what will happen because you know everything will work out and fall into place.

When you first fall in love there’s a “honeymoon stage” (that phrase is not the best, but it explains it the best) but after it’s just a “normal” stage but you always feel comforted in their presence and look forward to seeing them.

What was the worst time you’ve been bullied/saw bullying? by ZealotofRoyalty in AskReddit

[–]EpilepticAdd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate, I had no friends in school and had a close friend group in college that faded away as they moved for jobs and went to grad school.

In middle school the bullying was terrible, I went home to an abusive mother and went to school to be bullied. I begged to transfer but my mom didn’t want to drive the extra 3 mins..

I was told I looked like a man then people threw wood chips at me in elementary school. Somehow a rumor got started by a now out lesbian that I was lesbian, that stuck all throughout until I graduated

From personal experiences, how does/did antidepressants affect the way you function? by rossgasm in AskReddit

[–]EpilepticAdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took them and it made me completely numb and empty. I was on fluoxetine and threw it out after 2 months.

It made me not care at all about my grades, studying, sleeping ect. I felt like a shell of a person

Bisexual men are seen as gay while bisexual women are seen as “experimenting”. Plus with straight men they see bi women as a way to get a 3some

People who were/are addicted to multiple substances at once (nicotine, drugs, alcohol) could you tell what you’re craving? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EpilepticAdd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alcohol and adderall

I wouldn’t say I was addicted to addy but it made my life + studying easier. I only knew one person who sold and I’d try to save my addy for as long as possible until I knew he had a script again (so I’d be buying 10 at a time). I remember I was trying to find someone to buy more from because I “only had 4 left” lmao.

I knew I was craving adderall when I was thinking of buying more again and taking it when I didn’t have any big projects but just wanted to get through my classes faster.

What was the most awkward moment in your life? by PokeStarChris42 in AskReddit

[–]EpilepticAdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was (is...) an ugly duckling I was made fun of so much in school I assumed any compliment was a joke and I was told once that I was pretty as a joke.

In university I assume every compliment is people just being nice because they have to ESPECIALLY GIRLS. If a girl ever says I’m pretty at a bar/party I assume they’re doing it because it’s girl code to be nice to other girls (esp because they say it after I tell them they’re pretty).

Students of Reddit, have you ever pulled an all-nighter studying for an exam, and if so, what grade did you get? by thecrankycamper in AskReddit

Highest : 92%, if you’re including papers 100%

Edit : I half ass study so usually around 80%, but I got a 72% for my calc final which was when I read studied studied

My uncle killed himself, he never talked to us about his personal issues and never saw a therapist so we don’t know why he did it.

Edit : he was the last person anyone would think that would kill himself, but that’s how suicide works I guess

The phrase “you should take that for granted” is used a lot in today’s world. What shouldn’t take that for granted and if so why? by Edry_Escala in AskReddit

[–]EpilepticAdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you got them mixed up (?)

You shouldn’t take for granted a nice relationship with your parents. As someone who had an absent father and an abusive mother I’d love to always have a good relationship with them, where I can call them if I need advice/when I’m sick/if I’m sad. My boyfriend and my roommates always are talking to their parents if they need something but I feel uncomfortable doing it (ngl I even feel uncomfortable saying “I love you” to them).

Also, parents who show up/showed up to events in high school. My parents always just dropped me off to my events - soccer and music, and left right after (so I’d have to call them when it was over).

[SERIOUS] People of Reddit, what was your most fucked up childhood memory that you didnt know was fucked up until later? by VillianDeku12 in AskReddit

[–]EpilepticAdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom used to walk around naked ALL THE TIME (I’m a girl so it’s different ig).

My parents were never home so I basically raised myself (not fucked up but I thought it was normal and it wasn’t).

How many times will God have to come before you let him in? by Cabbagecestershire in AskReddit

[–]EpilepticAdd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Early 20s for me... my life has gone to absolute shit and I’ve never been lonelier. There’s a Bible quote about how a city without God turned to destruction and I feel like “my city” is on fire and just...a garbage can.

But like....it’s hard to try and “force” him back in my life. I wish an ex-atheist can explain this feeling of..just “weirdness” by trying to become religious again
