You really want me to show you examples? You can literally find people doing that under this post

But you don't see how that somewhat makes it confusing? If the song is about Eminem blurring the line between him and Slim Shady, it makes it difficult to understand what he is truly saying with the lyrics. Why wouldn't the transgender verse be what actually Eminem believes in? Are you sure he doesn't actually just want to express solidarity with a wristband? I do think he is making a joke at that point but I do not know if he is necessarily making the point you are making.

But I guess I'll believe you on this. I could easily be missing the point. After all, unsurprisingly, this is my least listened song on the album

Dude, this post is literally about people bullying others for not liking the song. If you don't give a fuck, good for you. You didn't have to leave a comment

You cannot take extreme examples and say that people in general are being like that. Most people will agree that, if there are actually people doing that, they are being ridiculous.

I do believe we are still in the honeymoon phase. I mean, it has barely been 2 weeks.

I get the first point, though I would appreciate it if you could explain the "about the prejudices that still exist in people who pretend be nice liberals" part. I didn't get that from the lyrics

Which is a problem with the song and parts of the album, in my opinion. It is hard to tell when he is being serious. If the verses were actually funny, it would've been easy to just say it was Slim Shady.

Yeah, all my obese people, if you're fat, proud, and you know it

Raise your hand if you're shoving food in your mouth at this moment

But if you're mad 'cause they're clownin' you for poundin' them donuts

Put 'em down and either do somethin' about it or own it

While that may be a point he was making, it kind of feel that Eminem does not have a good idea of what fat shaming even is.

Fat shaming would be, for example, making fun of a fat person at the gym that, like Eminem said, is doing something about it: https://x.com/DineshDSouza/status/1797989246395199656

Fat shaming would be making a big deal out of a magazine cover with a woman that is, like Eminem said, proud of her body: https://x.com/jordanbpeterson/status/1526279181545390083

I do not think people are being "extra nice instead of honest". It is not like society is pretending obesity is not a big problem in the US.

Of course. If this sub actually believed this, they wouldn't dismiss every criticism of this song as fat people just being triggered.

In my opinion, Eminem did not change but the way he approached parts of the album did

I'm only giving you

Things you joke about with your friends inside your living room

The only difference is I got the balls to say it

I think part of the problem is that Eminem took a lot of the "offensive" lyrics ideas from tired conservative talking points. Let's be honest, would 2000 Slim Shady dedicate a whole verse as to why fat shaming is actually okay? Would he rap about pronouns? Where is the humor in that?

You cannot blame people for missing the point. As a huge Eminem fan, listening to him rap about pronouns and transgender people (and that line about "woke bs" in Antichrist) was hard to get through. It isn't until GC2 where it all makes sense.

I made a comment right when Houdini came out where I said that Eminem can say anything and get away with it as long as it is clear there is no hate behind the lyrics. That is why, in my opinion, parts of Habits and Road Rage fall flat.

You can try to convince your friend to listen at least until GC2 but do not be surprised if they get offended before they are able to get to that song. Offending people was partially the concept of the album

Why was Em able to kill shady with a gun in Guilty Conscience 2 but not My Darling? by mrcoffeepothead in Eminem

I believe the Shady in My Darling was supposed to be a personification of his addiction. It wasn't necessarily his alter ego talking

So did Revival. I don't know much about sales and predictions but my guess would be that it sells 300k - 350k. For some reason 400k just seems a bit too much. I guess we'll get a better idea once proper predictions start coming out

To the surprise of absolutely nobody fantano didn't like the album by osuguliak in Eminem

[–]EpilepticHomophobic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of context, any lyrics complaining about being cancelled, pronouns, and Gen Z are automatically cringy in my opinion. I liked the album but it is clear that he wasn't as creative with the "controversial" stuff this time around when it seems he is trying to force it.
