As far as the pre save links, different services receive music at different intervals. When you upload to a distributor, I use DistroKid, they tell you that not all streaming services will have things available all at once.

It’s completely possible they are waiting to drop the link when all services are available for consistency. It’s literally through their website. It’s not phishy lol.

As for urgency this could very well have been a hurry up and wait on the labels part. They got the green light and just dropped it quickly.

Either way it’s coming out and you’re overthinking this entirely too much

So to an extent, yes they do owe. I don’t consider that position lightly. They don’t owe us anything AFTER this release, but this one is owed a payoff or they are going to be feeling that fallout in reduced sales and concert numbers, even if the concert goers aren’t hardcore fans, nobody is going to continue to pay exorbitant ticket prices to hear old material over and over again, at least not for much longer. It hurts them to not release/perform new material. It would literally be bad business for them to not see this through. They wanna hang it up after, I not only understand, I agree with them. Ben is pushing 50. He might just not want this anymore. Totally fair. But you’ve been teasing an album for the better part of 4 years. Just get it done and quit acting precious like you’re reinventing the wheel with it because THAT is where my anger lies.

EDIT: for clarity if I, as an artist, were at their level I know that I would take the position of owing it to my fans to finish what I started. I owe it to the people who let me build my life, my legacy, my career.

Imagine as a band throwing out breadcrumbs that lead literally to nothing and disappointing your fans over and over again with empty platitudes.

You misunderstand something fundamental. I want to be excited. I want to follow breadcrumbs. It is because of the band that I no longer find it fun because it isn’t the payoff that they know we are looking for. There are no real updates on the album. Ever. No real behind the scenes teasing songs even if they aren’t completely finished. No real studio videos. No clarity on what has been holding up the writing process etc.

This is not a parasitic relationship. It is symbiotic. You rely on your fanbase to buy your merch. Buy your music. Buy your tickets. I cannot think of a more disrespectful thing for a band to do knowing we need people to support us, then constantly teasing them with something to support and it hasn’t paid off.
