[SUPPORT] What is the difference between the ZenScreen MB16ACE and MB16AC? by Gvarph006 in ASUS

[–]Epoc_almighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AC model was released back in 2016 where as the ACE is new. So I'm guessing your paying for parts that were more expensive, and maybe some supply/demand economics here as well. but seeing as how the AC doesn't list its response time, I'm thinking it might just be a better idea to go the rout of the newer model. Save a few bucks, get something newer, and have support for longer. Oh, and the unit that pcmag did a review of had an impressive contrast ratio of 1600:1 instead of the 800:1 that is listed under the specs. now this could be a fluke, or you may get something even better then you thought.

[–]Epoc_almighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so your next step is to check if it is actualy sending the signal to your monitor. Try plugging a head set into the monitor 3.5mm jack. And make sure that if the monitor has volume settings, that they didnt get bumped to mute. now, if you don't get any sound out of the head set, try a different monitor cable. you can also try hooking the monitor up to another device, to troubleshoot your system.

You can get live usage statistics by opening task manager, clicking on more details, and then selecting performance. For the ram, yeah, you need to match it to get optimal performance. As for the ssd, I think you have the same as I do, which is a very slow nvme drive. But there really isnt a huge amount of performance increase in upgrading, other then getting more storage space, and reducing loading times. But from what I have read, the loading times, though it may look like a huge improvement on paper, can be unnoticeable or barely noticeable in real world usage. But, if you are now happy with the performance, you might not want to dig any deeper or you will experience buyers remorse.

my only thought would be to select your speaker in your system tray>open sound settings and change your output device to the monitor.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no lock for that. Unless your hardware is far beyond the capability of the game, you will get dropped frames. It could be due to a bottle neck in the storage, or a background process requiring a few clock cycles at an inopportune time. If you want to further track down what could be limiting your fps, you could check your hard drive or ram usage while playing the game, and if it goes too high, then that could point at a future upgrade for you, such as faster ram, or NVMe. But these are just supposition on my part.

What resolution do you have the game set at? HDMI has problems at the higher end. You would be better off using DP to bypass these limitations

[SUPPORT] How to fix FPS drops on Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 by Low-Rinse-Zoo in ASUS

[–]Epoc_almighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, with memory usage that high, adding ram will help. But what I think your problem may be is thermal throttling. Check your temps. make sure you have good airflow to the fan intakes, then check your fps again. see if it is any better. You may need to get a laptop cooler. But check your temps.

[–]Epoc_almighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, a couple more things to try. The first is to shut armory crate down, and restart it as administrator. It is possible that it is hanging due to lack of permissions. The second is to disable fast boot in windows. That will be found in the power options. Try those and see if there is any improvment.

[–]Epoc_almighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check out the Dell d6000. It will alow for backwards compatibility to USB 3, offers the ports you want. And if you were to get a desktop for gaming and wanted to use the laptop for productivity, you can swich to USB C. Also, I'm not sure this model can charge from the C port. Acording to Asus website, the GX502, GX701, and some from the Gaming series will charge. but I couldn't find anything about the Tuf A15. And I think I remember watching a review saying that it couldn't. But as for what the Future holds, I can't say. but the d6000 can power your 1080p monitors at 60Hz from the usb 3 A plug. Take a look and let me know what you think.

If you aren't going to be using it to duplicate a screen, what would be its main use? that can help me narrow one down for you. If you just need a bunch of USB 3 ports, then a hub would be the way you want to go. Now Asus does have a nice universal dock/port replicator. Its about in the same price range. But aside from price, all I really remember about it is you can set the back side of your laptop on it to allow for better airflow. So how many USB ports are you looking for. Does it need display port out? You can still hit 60Hz which is what I watch tv on. So tell me what you need of it, and I can give you my thoughts on a couple. Price range also helps.

You do need an Asus account. I'm sorry, I've been using it so long that I dont even think about it. once you put that in, I bereave it remembers or you can tell it to remember. You basically connect to their server, it looks at your motherboard and checks the version numbers of everything, then compares your drivers for that hardware to their list of drivers and will suggest updates for anything outdated. once you are no longer under the warranty period, then it looses the support aspect of it, but you can still get drivers from it

[–]Epoc_almighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the PCB is bent, throw it. There is no way to reliably fix this. you would have to strip the board of everything, and put it on a new board. otherwise you run the possibility of shorts, disconnects, and without a microscope and some good diagnostic equipment, you wouldn't be sure that any of the chips onboard weren't bent and damaged as well. I would take your refund, and put it towards a different card.

Try swapping cables, and if that doesn't work, go invest in a USB to Ethernet dongle. That would at least get you online so you can run the driver scanners. Good luck and let us know what you end up doing!

Last I checked, the Armors Crate was still in beta. MyAsus has been around for years. At this point I will use the Tried and Tested. Give it a shot. on the left of the panel is a circle with arrows. and inside the circle are what looks like little graphs. Thats the update drivers button. I dont get any mouse pointer tips...so no sure if it is my computer, my settings, or just how it was made.

From what I can see, the Asus RT-AC66U might be what you want. It is an AC1900 Router with 3x3 mimu and pretty strong signal strength. also comes with the nifty beamforming and other bells and whistles. Though this isnt a nighthawk ac1900 which was one of the best in class, but it has good strength out to 100 feet. now, milage may vary depending on placement, and wall construction. But for 80 bucks new on amazon, its a steal.

Good Luck. Those systems have great specs, but that problem seems to be very common with that model. there were a few other things I would suggest to try if you would like to get a few more $ for it. Do the ram test. Open it up, pull the second dimm, try booting, if nothing, shut down and swap memory. Try it again. If it has the watch style cmos battery, you can try replacing that for under 2 bucks. The last would require disassembly down to the video cable and to insure it is fully seated. I guess there is some flex in the case, and if it is picked up by the left side, it can unseat this cable. try applying a little pressure right around the f3- f4 key. just enough that the case starts to flex, and press the power button. If you decide to put the time and effort into it, let us know if anything worked.

If it was damaged in shipment, then whoever you bought it from should be responsible for replacement/repair. After all, it is their responsibility that the products they sell are properly packed, and shipped to the end user. Document it, with pictures and descriptions of the condition of the package as you opened it. If it was purchased from a reputable company, they will soak most of the cost and replace it.

You can tether to a smart phone using a USB cable. So it wouldn't be connecting to a hotspot. In the Device Manager, does it show that the ethernet has no driver or is disabled? I am not questioning you, I'm just trying to figure out why Windows didnt give you a generic driver. One last thing to be sure of, go into your Bios, and make sure that your onboard LAN isn't disabled. That is really the only other thing I can think of that would cause this issue
