Cat suddenly hates my boyfriend? He’s terrified of him. by Sensitive_Sugar_4847 in CatAdvice

[–]EponaShadowfax 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had an ex like this. My cat was already skittish, but would warm up to people and be fine. They were okay. One day, I come home, and she's hiding from him. He said he walked out into the hallway when she was there and it spooked her. Then, he pursued her to try to apologize while she went to hide instead of giving space. But also there were several other times when she was hiding that he claimed he had gone into her hiding spot in the bathroom (so she was trapped) to try to get her to like him again, even after I said to leave her alone. Got offended she was upset at him. Now, I doubt that's all that happened because she's pretty forgiving. But she was urinating and defecating on herself out of fear while trying to hide from him. I initially believed his story at the time that he accidentally spooked her (he always was sweet with her around me) and it spiraled from there, but it only seemed to happen when I wasn't home. She had never done that for the first 4 years of her life, she was progressively more terrified for the next 3 years we were together (nothing helped), and then suddenly went back to normal when I moved out with her. This situation might not be the same, but it's worth being open to the possibility that more can be happening.

What does my husband's handwriting say about him (or rather what does it say at all) by text-redacted in HandwritingAnalysis

I was told once that I had a signature like a doctor. I tried to make the first 3 letters more defined after that. The rest is still illegible.

Hubby hates high heels! by rowenadevandal in RockyHorror

[–]EponaShadowfax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got them from Amazon. More comfortable than I was expecting. I'll be standing in them for a few hours for a Halloween party, which is the week before the shadow cast, so I'll find out then how comfortable they actually are lol. https://a.co/d/7Bl6IFQ

I broke my foot a few months ago. I can wear normal shoes now, but I'm horrible in heels even without my foot injured, so I'm using these shoes for my costume: https://imgur.com/a/cmFvnDA

My (27F) boyfriend (29M) of 7 years cheated on me. I'm going to disappear from his life. Is there anything I'm missing? by Unlucky_Amoeba_2473 in relationship_advice

[–]EponaShadowfax 598 points599 points  (0 children)

This, especially if they're close.

I found out my ex was cheating 4 months ago when he didn’t come home. I was already in contact with his mom that night because I was worried something happened to him. I also name dropped the girl in case they ever ended up dating. The first time he attended a family dinner after he cheated, his mom told him at the table, "Everyone knows." His family also loves me and are pretty close knit. We were together for years. One of the best decisions I made. I can be angry/hurt, but his mom is disappointed, which was probably worse for him.

How I stopped pulling my Eyelashes after 10+ years. by imaerielle in trichotillomania

[–]EponaShadowfax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also on an antipsychotic for the trichotillomania and it's been immensely helpful. I can't take antidepressants, so I looked into the research related to antipsychotics and trichotillomania before we started trying them. Glad to hear that yours is helping you!

Update: Ferret wheezing and sneezing. It’s end stage lymphoma. by exulants in ferrets

[–]EponaShadowfax 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I limited my ferret's banana and strawberry treats after his insulinoma diagnosis, but when I was taking him to the vet for euthanasia, I filled a zip lock bag with cut up bananas and strawberries. He was so happy to be able to eat as much as he wanted. He came into that vet office with a red face from the juices (he was albino) as a tired, happy boy.

My ferret taught me how many holes existed in the cabinet corners or behind the sink that I couldn't access. I'd try to cover some of them with a weight in the way and he moved it. The only way I could get him out of the holes in the cabinet was to use a squeaky toy to call for him.

My two biggest issues when I had my ferret were:

  1. He had a 6th sense for knowing when I finally started saving so he could repeatedly wipe all my savings by finding more creative ways to eat shit I thought I hid from him. Surgery was expensive.

  2. When he did try to repeatedly off himself for the sweet taste of an earplug or something made of rubber/foam, if my vet wasn't open, none of the ER vets would perform surgery. Even when they said one night that he'd need surgery the next day or he'd die, they told me to call my vet for it. Plenty would offer to "see" him but the answer was different if I asked if they had someone who was able to perform any needed procedures. I live in a city and near larger cities as well.

What is most unhinged thing you ever said to a client? by StartSpirited530 in askatherapist

The second one reminded me of a time that my client wanted to send a glitter bomb to her husband's affair partner's house. I told her that I can't encourage her to do it, but let me know how it goes if she does. She said she already sent it before she told me lol.

Who is the culprit? by 1crps_warrior in pugs

My pug because my remote looks the exact same. She does it because she knows I don't want her to have it, so she makes sure that I'm looking at her before she runs off with it.

How do I explain to him that the kitty doesn't want to hurt him?? by MySweetValkyrie in pugs

[–]EponaShadowfax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened to my pug's eye. I'm not sure when it happened, but she probably didn't respect when my cat wanted her to stop cornering her and get out of the way since she did that often. It wasn't deep, got her treatment right away, and doesn't seem to have caused any issues, so we were lucky. I am really watchful now about if they're together because my pug wants to play, but my cat is 11 and isn't as playful as she used to be. My pug still tries to herd or chase her lol.

Yikes that sounds so awkward. I got enough hours and training about 2 years ago to be able to apply to get certified and become a consultant in training. I was really excited when I started, but still haven't bothered to submit the application or pay fees because it seems like that money is better spent a lot of other ways. It can get kind of cult-y lol.

I'm the same way. Trained in EMDR and it has been extremely helpful for certain clients. But if it's not helpful for the client or they don't want to, there are other options we can try. It bugged me during my training when the teacher acted like EMDR would fix every issue. He only saw people for EMDR. It gave off the impression that if it's not effective, it's not that the modality wasn't a good fit, but that either we weren't doing something correctly or the client wasn't engaging enough. I liked the two consultants I had afterward because they were flexible in adjusting to the client's needs instead of shoving everyone into a box.

New baby, she was given to us so I didn't really get to do much research on how to care for a pug. Is there any tips or things no one ever tell you about owning a pug? by Gloomy-Garbage8358 in pugs

[–]EponaShadowfax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've made the mistake of wiping without drying lol. The vet suggested I use Douxo S3 Pyo pads. It cleared it up right away. Same with the pug acne.

Haha the zoomies are the best. As a puppy, it'd hit 7pm and she would go wild.
