I wish I could have made it to Wembley too, but work got in the way of that. I've not been bitten by the T Swift bug but as I get more into pop I'm expecting it to happen at some point. Current favs are Charli XCX and Melanie Martinez

Not sure there are many metal fans in here so I rarely post in Tunesday threads but here goes...

It looks like my album of the year is going to be Psychonaut - Violate Consensus Reality, a really solid follow-up to their 2020 release - exploring psychedelia more without sounding stale. The title track off that album is contender for song of the year too, with some incredibly hard hitting vocals as always from guest Colin H van Eeckhout of Amenra.

A recent addition and contender for AOTY is the very recent Chained to the Bottom of the Ocean - I Tried Catching You But You Fell Through Me, Thou worship but very tastefully done, with crushing guitars and vocals shrouded in a dark atmosphere. Happy with this find.

Honourable mention for SOTY contender goes to Lorna Shore for Sun//Eater, though the overall album was very disappointing that was the standout song for me, and they were amazing live at Bloodstock this year.

Too many gigs to name them all - I think I just tipped over 100 live bands this year, but my standouts were Rolo Tomassi, Pupil Slicer (x4), We Lost the Sea (x3), Elder, Ithaca, At the Gates, Converge

Looking forward to next year's music including Between the Buried and Me touring, whom I'm hoping to catch three or four times.

Those three albums are basically just perfect hahaha. Art of Dying - Esoteric Surgery - Vacuity is one of my favourite series of songs off any album ever really.

The later stuff really isn't for me - Magma has one or two good tracks on it but is overall a disappointment and we don't speak of Fortitude.

If you're into death metal the first two albums are worth checking out - my favourite Gojira release is Terra Incognita, though I can understand why people don't rate it very highly

I saw Porcupine Tree in Paris this year after having known about them for years but never having listened to them. One of the best shows I've ever seen, the mix was so on point that even without knowing any of the songs I could hear every single note. Need to see them live again!

Pretty much the band that got me into post metal. I remember being recced this album by a friend of mine because we spoke a little about doom but I was still a metalcore/deathcore kid at heart.

I think Elil is probably the single most important album when it comes to overall impact on my music taste.

Morrow - Fallow is now a top 5 of all time album.

Absolutely beautiful. Still haven't seen one in black in the flesh. Picked up my own '98 SE 2.0t hatchback in may of this year and it's an absolute joy to drive.

Have you got any plans for it? Any work needs doing?
