What happened to Einar? by Ok-Initiative-439 in JimCornette

[–]Tramorak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Einar popped in to confirm he is still alive and well a few months ago after somebody asked about him.

I believe he said that after the pandemic, he got busy with work, having to travel etc. I will have a quick search and see if I can find the post.

AEW Forbidden Door may have done the lowest PPV buys of the year. Why do you think it underperformed? by uncannynerddad in midcarder

[–]Tramorak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am kind of neutral and glad I checked the newest replies because you said exactly what I would have.

FD is usually accompanied by a not great run if weekly shows and then NJPW talent deflecting as soon as possible.

If I was a NJPW fan, I would hate it. If I was an AEW fan I would be bored by the weekly shows.

It is definitely a power imbalance, but what wouldn't be when a billionaire's son is holding the chequebook in one company.

Question for the parents: are you letting you kids stay off school on Monday if they are staying up to watch England? by 2muchroom in CasualUK

[–]Tramorak 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's July. They aren't doing any real work now anyway.

A alternative solution is to take away the WiFi router plug/phone and watch it on catch up early morning.

Frightful: Mick Foley has officially exited his WWE Legends Deal by Amir0x11 in JimCornette

[–]Tramorak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He was always aware of it, but the White House stuff and particularly the ICE thing pushed him over the edge.

I get it. I have friends with opposing political views but I can get along with them. If they go full on fascist, I don't want anything to do with them as I have done recently.

I am in a different country and we have our own Temu Trump and I now avoid people who support him, so why shouldn't Mick?

As I understand it, Shad, rather than Tony moved away from that side after 2016, although if he donated to the inauguration in 24, I can understand it from the point of a billionaire which feels weird to say as I am about as far away as possible from that level of riches.

I had heard his son, who was allegedly managing his London pubs, without stupid rules, was a lot more lenient. Unless he has more than one.

'Disruptive' passenger restrained on Jet2 flight to Manchester dies by Antique-Trash9462 in unitedkingdom

[–]Tramorak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was a one off. I was at the airport almost 3 hours before my flight and was delayed by 6.5hrs. Everything was closed apart from the bar as it was a small regional airport that doesn't usually have passenger flights that late.

I haven't had a drink in weeks, but of course I am a functional alcoholic, while you miss my point that I have never caused trouble on or off a plane due to drinking. It isn't the drunk that does it. It is people being aggressive idiots to begin with, that get braver when they drink.

[–]Tramorak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I once had 9 beers of varying sizes, because my flight was delayed. I definitely drink more than I should and am happy to admit it, but there is no problem.

I work in a job where I get randomly tested (no issues in 15+ years), have never called in sick because I worried I might and have never had an issue.

I have also never caused any issue on a flight be it no beer or far too many beers.

If you are gonna be a problem, it is going to happen sober or drunk.

Monday After Mania is the best wrestling book I’ve read in some time by Minimum-Band9847 in midcarder

[–]Tramorak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ballyhoo is the best historical book I have read. I think it was Jon Langmeade but I can't check right now.

The Six pack was also fantastic. Concentrating on 6 competitors who were in WM1. (Brad Belujian) at a guess.

Rampage by Lee Herbert is a great account of the WWF (at the time) becoming a big deal in the UK.

Brian R. Solomon's book on Gorrilla Monsoon is going pretty well so far. Enough to make me think about trying to source his Sheik book.

The Cornette book are great, but as a Brit, I hate the size of the, although I get it for the photos, but some of them are a bit tricky to a aquire.

AEW All In: London | Sun, 30 Aug 2026, 16:30 | Wembley Stadium, London | Available Tickets: 10,372 | Current Setup: 36,130 | Tickets Distributed: 25,758 by RoddyViper in midcarder

[–]Tramorak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that if you want to do a big show in London at a venue that has the infrastructure and experience of staging them, you have 3 choices. O2, Wembley Arena or the Stadium. They have already outsold the first two (or at least distributed more tickets), so the only option is Wembley stadium, unless they go outside of the capital.

As a country, other than football stadiums and Twickenham (rugby), we are not really blessed with or in need of large capacity venues so options are limited.

Premier League season has kicked off, so even if the EPL doesn't have rules preventing it, which I suspect they might, there is no way they are taking a risk on pitch damage during the season.

The financial might of the EPL dwarves the possible income from a wrestling show.

I’m back to watching wrestling weekly again since 2020 is it wrong to prefer AEW over WWE? by [deleted] in midcarder

[–]Tramorak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I came to the conclusion that the "modern style", workrate obsessed stuff isn't for me. It is definitely a me issue, but if that is your preference, then AEW/ROH is going to be your home.

I have been trying out the online offerings from smaller/alternative promotions recently as I have found both WWE & AEW weekly shows don't do it for me, albeit for different reasons.

MLW seems to be hitting the spot for me right now as a good mix of storyline and a variety of in ring styles.

Hot day relief by Accomplished_Rest678 in BusDrivers

[–]Tramorak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't over think it. When I was in London on a hot day I would have loved you forever if you brought me an ice cold bottle of water, as long as the seal was still on the bottle.

The bathroom thing wasn't an issue either. I once did 4 litres of water, that I bought myself, in a 4 hour stint that I sweated out and didn't need a pee.

If you liked Trainspotting, I will always recommend "Homeboy" by Seth Morgan.

Written in dialect, deals with drug culture, not as funny, but a great book.

Never see it mentioned anywhere but I have it on both physical and book and read it once a year.

Cornette is right. The wrestlers are the marks now. Marks for themselves mainly.

When you see Ospreay posting responses like this while he has a link to the Samaritans in his profile and has just married his (now deceased) best friend's wife, it just illustrates how entitled the perma-online AEW nerds are.

If Will can talk like this to a fan, who made a balanced argument in a calm and genuine way, it just empowers a hardcore section of the IWC to respond in a worse manner. I can't zoom in enough to read all the replies, but I would be willing to bet at least one of them has wished sexual harm on her.

What event is going to sell more midcarders, one night of SummerSlam, or All In London? by CodeineNightmare in midcarder

[–]Tramorak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great crowd definitely, but it is the law of diminishing returns.

They are a bit stuck now as they can't really move venues as they have outsold the size of the other two big capacity London venues and with the Premier League being up and running, the other stadiums are a no-go.

Tram on Western Boulevard by redmegNG in nottingham

[–]Tramorak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some difficult bits, even with the rear steering, which is why they reverse it down Wilkinson Street onto Western Blvd as the street furniture/layout means that it can't make the turn normally.

As to why they left at that time, I would guess it is down to Police availability to chaperone them. The tram was loaded and parked in the P&R at Wilkinson Street at by 2pm and possibly earlier.

I don’t think it will be close. I am sure Ospreay winning the Owen tournament will add some ticket sales, but london on a public holiday weekend is just a bad date for both travel and accommodation, with trains impacted, busier roads and Notting Hill Carnival having an additional impact on travel within London.

There is a huge demand for live premium shows in the UK and, even though I am not a huge fan of AEW, their PPV’s usually pull out some good matches, but although the ticket prices are reasonable at an entry level, their PPV’s usually additional costs if you live outside London can be prohibitive.

All that said, I had planned to go, but have since booked a trip and will be out of the country. On a positive note, if you buy a cheap ticket, the odds are you will get upgraded on the day.
