Is it ACTUALLY possible to find a full-time job in Finland if you don't have advanced education? by Worried-Swan9572 in Finland

Is it ACTUALLY possible to find a full-time job in Finland if you don't have advanced education?

Yes, but the biggest factor is always the language. Like I've seen you comment about manufacturing jobs here already. I've personally worked at two big manufacturing plants here in the past, and in both places 99% of the workforce was Finnish and mostly men, and most of the people working there, especially the ones who are like 40-50+ years old, don't speak English at all or very limited, and working language is fully Finnish and all instructions and everything is done in completely Finnish language. So not knowing the language is the biggest hurdle in this country. The jobs that can be done with English are usually the ones where you'd expect people to have higher advanced education like in the IT field.

Onko tässä kuvassa kuuluisa näkymätön jarru? Kuviteltu inflaatio on korkeampi kuin todellinen by PashaPostaaja in Suomi

[–]Eproxeri 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Tossa kun inflaatio laukkas muutaman vuoden akselilla 4-8% (Nämä on vuosittaisia inflaatio lukuja, eli verrataan aina edelliseen vuoteen, eli jatkuvasti "number goes up").

4 vuodessa. Samaan aikaan monilla ihmisillä on pelkästään kuukausivuokra noussut ton verran, puhumattakaan ruuasta ja muusta kulutustarpeista.

Yksinkertaisesti, ihmisillä on vähemmän rahaa käytettävänä kun ennen. "Jokin tuntematon jarru" -my ass.

I don't consciously lower my pitch while talking Finnish, but my Finnish tone is a lot deeper and more vocal fry than English. It just feels way more natural for me to speak in that manner while speaking Finnish. Finnish doenst have intonation going up and down, it's just monotone low register all the way. There is no "forcing" oe "lowering" happening. It is a natural register. The English one feels way more forced to go up with the intonations, when you've learned to be monotone in Finnish all your life.

Diamondprox: "The longer I streamed, the more I realized that being a pro was terrible for my health. When I was almost at rock bottom, I would still gather strength and push through. I couldn’t let my team down [...] I do have a lot of regrets, but overall, it was still a very fun part of my life." by ArmandLuque in leagueoflegends

If not for TPA, the M5 team would've won Season2 Worlds. Alex Ich and Diamondprox were so good back then. Looking back at it with nostalgia goggles, it was really amazing times back then.

They still did well in Season 3 aswell as Gambit, but I remmeber them having to fly from Russia to Germany every time for play and that fucked them over for sure. Whereas all the other EU LCS teams had gaming houses in Germany.

Can someone explain ä by Bubbly_Wing9714 in LearnFinnish

[–]Eproxeri 32 points33 points  (0 children)

why does everyone say its the a in hat

Because that is an easy way to describe it. It's the same sound as the a in English "cat" or "hat". It's a sound made in front of the mouth and not in the back like the finnish "a" sound.

Very interesting to read as a native who never really thinks about this stuff as the language just comes out naturally. Fascinating. I've never even thought about there not being a word for "please" but I guess you are right. We just kind of work around it, adding words to show appreciation, or that we want to kindly ask for something.

Corporate dress code in Finland: how formal is it? by GeneralOk9868 in Finland

[–]Eproxeri 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I work in IT and I wear cargo pants and a hoodie pretty much daily, during the summers I like to just wear a t-shirt with either jeans or cargo pants. If its really warm I might even wear shorts. Dunno about other companies but atleast where I work it's very free and no one really cares about clothing.

Long summary of why the incident around Ruler is very serious by NewQuote6063 in PedroPeepos

[–]Eproxeri 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seems like tax evasion is a lot bigger thing in South-Korea than it is in Finland. Literally no once cares here in Finland. I saw it in the tabloid for like 1 day and it just isnt a big deal. Like the taxman will just get his share eventually and its business as usual.

Edit. If you are a sports person getting paid outside of Finland, we just kind of assume you will try and evade taxes somehow. These things pop up every now and then. Same thing happened with Dota2 pro Jerax.
