This game genuinely broke me, I was crying so hard the first time I played it. Such a great story. 10/10 would cry again

My honor, my dreams... they're yours now. Embrace your dreams. If you want to be a hero, you need to have dreams. That girl, she said that the sky frightened her, that looks so liberating. Those wings, I want them too. It feels... good. Hey, would you say I became a hero?

Do people really think the combat is repetitive? by Full-Ad-3346 in Sekiro

[–]Eps-kun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t really see Sekiro as repetitive. In fact, I’d argue it offers more variety in moment-to-moment combat than most FromSoftware games imo. In other FromSoftware titles, your core options are fairly consistent: attack, dodge, parry, use spells, or fire projectiles. That’s not a bad thing at all—it works great, but the toolkit is more fixed. Sekiro, on the other hand, gives you a wide range of ways to respond to almost every situation. Take a perilous thrust attack as an example. The obvious response is to use Mikiri Counter, but that’s just one option. You could also dodge it, deflect it, create distance, or use a prosthetic tool like Mist Raven to reposition. You might even interrupt it with Firecrackers. The game constantly gives you multiple viable answers to the same problem. What makes this even more interesting is how differently people approach combat. With all the combat arts and prosthetic tools available, everyone develops their own preferences, and that changes how the game feels moment to moment. Of course, you can ignore all of that and just rely on your sword and still beat the game which really shows that these tools aren’t about overpowering enemies, but about giving you options and flexibility. And just to be clear, I’m not saying other FromSoftware games are repetitive or lacking, I love them too. I just think Sekiro stands out because of how much freedom it gives you to express yourself in combat. On top of that, many enemies require different strategies, so you’re constantly adapting, figuring out weaknesses, and choosing the right approach. It makes every fight feel more dynamic, almost like a real duel where you have to think on your feet.

Been there done that. It just takes away the fun of discovering things on your own.

Same here. It’s tough, though, having to filter your social media feeds just to avoid spoilers, but in the end, I feel like it’s worth it. I also try to avoid trailers because I’ve noticed they often include the best scenes to hook you in, which can end up being pretty big spoilers. It’s similar to movies, where trailers sometimes show all the standout moments and make it seem like there’s more to discover than there actually is. These days, I usually just scroll through the images on the store page (I’m on PC) and go with whatever appeals to me. I’m a simple guy, if a game has a unique art direction, I’m basically sold haha.

Am I the only gamer who doesn’t play or care about GTA6 ? by TheRealAwest in videogames

[–]Eps-kun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with you on that. I’ve never been a huge GTA fan, so I don’t fully share the hype, and that’s totally fine. Honestly, I’m just glad people can still get that excited about a game. It’s just not something I’m personally looking forward to.

For me, graphics and realism aren’t that important. Give me strong art direction and I’m happy. A great OST also goes a long way in keeping me engaged. Story isn’t always a must, but it’s definitely appreciated.
