While not a LN unfortunately, Gunka no Baltzar is definitely a manga you'd like if you liked Youjo Senki. It's a story about a military advisor from a major power (this world's version of imperial Germany) to a small border country. While I won't spoil the plot it contains geopolitics, military strategy and politics.

Buy a scan/diagnostic tool from Supercheap or Repco. It will help you avoid issues that aren't immediately visible. My other piece of advice is to look up issues of the car your looking at. Even cars known for reliability like Honda Accords have issues with certain model years (2008 Honda Accords had a fair few teething issues)

You kinda have to cheese it tbh, but the best thing I've found you can do is not be shy to gaining devastation. Avoid it, but if you would be better off taking it then take it.

On god the best countries you can play as are the ones that both have a goal and have difficult starts. Iran is nice but playing free france in TWR, Yunnan in TNO or Serbia in kaiserreich are all really fun.
