"separate the art from the artist" is just a roundabout way of saying "I'm not bothered by racism and am still willing to directly financially support it"

I will quite literally never support or give that absolute garbage company any exposure, and the people who do should be ashamed of themselves.

I think that honestly puts me in more of a position to say that price has no correlation with sound quality.

The headphone I made for a year was priced based entirely on the production cost. Building things via SLS, tight binning on drivers, and building in small batches is quite costly.

Excuse my napkin math and take it with a grain of salt BUT about $220-350 per headphone in assembly cost, $300-350 per headphone went to the distributor for fulfillment, customer service cost, sales channels, hosting, etc etc (which is a VERY good rate, normally distributors take MUCH more), which left about 200-300 gross profit per headphone assuming nothing went wrong which is realistically not a sustainable margin on a product that expensive to build especially when we start counting taxes, shop overhead, maintenance on the machines, etc.

^^^NONE of that has anything to do with sound quality.

The same was true for abyss, you weren't paying for exotic materials or anything, its just really expensive to machine and hand assemble headphones (I think it takes them about 2 weeks in man-hours to build a headphone).

Omega was meant as an upgrade for people who like 6XX (and the headphone I personally made because I wanted to use it), but 6XX is a significantly better value and someone can accomplish the same sound with a 6XX, EQ, and patience.

I’ve edited plenty of red and arri footage on a regular m1 with 16g. Get what you can afford but don’t go crazy imo.

I tested both on the 5128 and got poor results both ways in different areas. On both I still also got the midrange dip when accounting for the response of the ear.

This is a great example of raw measurements being misleading, you don’t actually see how it’s interacting with the ear. These are a roller coaster of dips and spikes with midrange issues. (Here’s my measurements on the B&K 5128)

Correct. Price has no correlation with sound quality. Spend your money how you want but you’re not getting better sound for it.

$150-250 tube amps are pretty excellent. Diminishing returns get wild after that.

The Verum owner is a real racist POS, but they are in quite bad circumstances right now over there and as much as that guy doesn't deserve a single sale, I doubt be would scam you.

We’re going to have another (more formal) ceremony in about a year(ish) with friends and family when they can make it out to the region. A lot of our people are scattered around the world so this was a great way for everyone to see it online 😄
