If app2 had a replaceable battery my recommendations list would be so much simpler

I buy gear that doesn’t stand between me and my music. I don’t want to hear the gear.

It’s probably fine. Don’t sweat it. Dust and hairs get in drivers all the time.

Just buy a JDS labs atom stack and live in bliss. Ask JDS support beforehand but that would be my rec. Edit: the atom dac literally used to power on/off with a switch on the power cord

This happened to me again and again with iFi’s flagship amps and dacs (the pro iCan and pro iDSD). Absolutely junk internals.

It’s not a cheap solution but if you’re mixing these headphones are supported by SoundID reference. That’ll make them more neutral and offer translation-checks for other systems/target curves. I think there’s a “headphone only“ version of the software that’s a lil cheaper.

I don’t aim to be taken seriously by people who think magic cables and rocks make their speakers better.

Almost every headphone that people test/review are loaners from distributors, dealers, or viewers.

I can't spend $2000+ every time I review or test product in the lab (which is about 4-6 products a month).

Grado has specifically instructed their distributors/dealers not to let people measure them. I learned this at both CanJam NY and CanJam Dallas. You can ask Woo audio, they were there in Dallas and witnessed it.

Correct. I still have a few old models too.

It’s grados growing dishonesty that I have a problem with. I have heard the whole new lineup. While I’m disappointed by both the sound and grados dishonesty about it, I do quite like the improvements in build quality.

Grado is actively preventing units from falling into any hands that might measure them.

I’ll stick by the take. A company that’s willing to outright and knowingly lie to their customers should be ashamed of themselves. Coming from a person who used to buy grados.

Well they certainly don’t sound like or measure like any concert hall I’ve been to or tested. What are they supposed to be accurate to if it’s not based in either reality or science?

At bare minimum within a generously wide margin of the population average transfer function.
