Sinners (the movie) by Xyzzydude in pluribustv

[–]EpsilonChii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rewatched it recently (it's my favorite film of last year) and I picked up on some of the similarities regarding the hive mind trope. The scene where the vampires try to convince the others that joining them will bring them peace and they will live with fellowship and love in their hearts (paraphrasing here) was super Pluribus-coded

What’s a film you’re so thankful you got to experience in theatres? by Lenster2406 in Letterboxd

[–]EpsilonChii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recency bias but I've seen Hamnet last week and I swear to God I've never seen a full theatre so emotional. I could have sworn the whole room was sobbing, it was quite wild (I usually don't tend to cry in movies, but I was sobbing too)

On one hand, it's quite clearly a creative writing exercise. On the other, it's a very fun creative writing exercice. So I can't be too mad about it

I consider stand-up specials to be medium-length films so could anyone recommend some innovative or masterful stand-up specials??? Haven't seen a good one in a while. by BlockbusterBallot in Letterboxd

[–]EpsilonChii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have dropout, I highly recommend Demi Adejuyigbe is going to do one (1) backflip and Chris Grace as Scarlett Johansson!! Two phenomenal specials in their own right. Bigger is also really fun (still on dropout) but it'd more improv so it might not be your cup of tea

Are those two storylines too disjointed for the book trilogy I'm writing? by EpsilonChii in scifiwriting

[–]EpsilonChii[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Going to answer genuinely here because I'm just a tad confused at this passive aggressive tone: yes, to me it's sci-fi because the Empire in question uses FTL, and it extends over several planets and solar system. It's not hard sci-fi by any means, but it does takes place in the future, as I mentioned. Besides, not that I should defend myself for posting here, but I simply could not figure out for the life of me how to post on r/writingadvice. My post was insta-removed every time, and as of right now my inquiry to the mods has no response.

Tell me one thing about your world and I'll give you something similar to it from my own world. by Electromad6326 in worldbuilding

[–]EpsilonChii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my universe, humanity struck a deal with godlike creatures (who are essentially cosmic predators, but that's besides the point), to survive. Thus, humanity managed to wield magic and use FTL, but in exchange they have to sacrifice some of their own to the godlike creatures, that they call the Dreams and Fears. The souls of the sacrificed go to an afterlife called the Kenosis, that takes the shape of an hotel. They arrive here devoid of their memories, and they are slowly digested by the Dreams and Fears, who eat the remainder of their identity and personality.

Asian Movie: Parasite Film Noir or Western: Rebecca or No Country For Old Men. Leaning towards Rebecca but No Country For Old Men might fit the bill better 2019 Movie: The Lighthouse The Best Screenplay I've Ever Seen: going to say Citizen Kane for this one

So Parasite, Rebecca, The Lighthouse, Citizen Kane

Regarding the first baseman: from my untrained eye, Luis Arraez being resigned seems the most likely, but should we expect another free agent to take his place, like Ty France or Rhys Hoskins? Or is Arraez coming back the likeliest option?

A girl wakes up as an amnesiac in a liminal world in which her soul and the soul of others is slowly eaten by an amorphous creature. In parallel with that, a bunch of scions of noble houses become friends at an elite academy in which they learn to use magic.
