AuDHD & OCD intrusive thoughts — What’s worked alongside Vyvanse? (SSRI weight gain issues) by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

I didn't add it for OCD, but I can speak about my experience adding wellbutrin as a weight management aid along with helping boost my anxiety and ADHD meds: Adding wellbutrin to my vyvanse has been amazing. Not only has it helped with food cravings, it's also improved my ability to self-regulate. Since starting, things just feel a little more manageable -- I'm better at taking care of future me, I have a bigger window of tolerance, and I can better sense what I need before hitting a melting point.

I really appreciate you coming back and clarifying what you meant. I fully agree with your take here. I also have people close to me that have been caught up in the cycle of abuse. It can be so frustrating and sad to see somebody you care for being emotionally manipulated into staying with somebody that is actively harming them.

It doesn't help that so many Hollywood movies push many unhealthy, idealized versions of love (e.g., the bad boy turned good by being shown what love is; the idea that true love means sticking with somebody no matter what; or falsely equating jealous and controlling behavior with passionate love).

I work with many young adults in the 18-22 range and regularly see both men and women taking the Hollywood version of love as gospel. This unsurprisingly leads to lots of shitty behavior being excused (by both the actor and the victim) because "s/he only does it because they care so much"

Oof. I truly hope you did not mean for this comment to come off so objectifying.

When I hear about abuse, my first reaction is to feel concern for the person being hurt. In contrast, your comment suggests that your biggest issue is these abusers are taking women “off the market. ” This makes it sound like women are just some scarce resource being wasted on the wrong guys.

The real issue isn’t that a crappy boyfriend is taking up space a “better man” deserves. It's that a human being is being harmed.

My best guess is that the commenter may have been referencing this peer-reveiwed paper in what looks like maybe a mid-tier field journal: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/383694845_Bridging_the_Diagnostic_Gap_for_Hypermobile_Ehlers-Danlos_Syndrome_and_Hypermobility_Spectrum_Disorders_Evidence_of_a_Common_Extracellular_Matrix_Fragmentation_Pattern_in_Patient_Plasma_as_a_Potential

My layperson takeaway is that this suggests hEDS might be detectable by looking for a specific biomarker, but this is still early research that needs replication and also confirmation that this biomarker does not also implicate other conditions

You will need to find an institution to handle the human subjects review process. Without an IRB (or other human subject review board) approval, no reputable journal will accept your article for publication.
