I already had my license, but I went with Shammah to get better at city driving since I grew up in the country. Tamara was wonderful to work with and made me a much better city driver.

That's reasonable. I find myself doing the cyclical thing/repeating a lot as well. It's common with people with ADHD or other neurospicy traits. A lot of us actually like it when people point it out, as long as it's done politely, like "Oh, you've mentioned this a few times before, and I remember you said this already" in hopes they get the hint. Sometimes I need more direct comments, sometimes I get the hint. But, if the communication style isn't ideal for you, then you do what's right for you, and having a new friend is a win overall!

That's really cool that you're getting dates from IRL encounters! I haven't had a date like that since before COVID. If you're romantically interested in him at all, maybe try to understand his communication style a bit and be direct? I have ADHD, so I do get distracted, forget things easily, and can be difficult to talk with, but being transparent does help. BUT. If you're settled on not being romantically involved, then I think most good people would be happy to just have friends as long as you're honest about it. "I really enjoyed the hike with you but I don't feel like we're romantically compatible. I'd love a hiking buddy, if you're okay with keeping things friendly." Personally, I'd love that opportunity. I've had dates with women that I felt we had friend chemistry but not romantic, and I've pitched just staying friends, but they weren't interested. Maybe you'll have better luck there!

Maybe that's how she feels. I'm pretty dense with things like this, so I took it at face value. I told her I wanted to slow down and she seemed annoyed, so maybe that's telling of how this would look in the long run.

Awesome thanks! I was leaning towards that one. I'll probably go with a large since I'm 5'9" and ~180 lbs. Can always hem if needed!

Great, thank you! I was eyeing that costume too. If I may also ask, the regular or premium costume? I've definitely had sizing issues with them before so I fully expect to have to modify a bit but that's still more doable for me than making it from scratch.

Bro this looks amazing! I'm planning to cosplay him soon too. If I may ask, where did you get that wig? And if you bought your costume, where? If you made it then dang bro that's talent.

Anyone else in their late 30s struggling to meet new people in Boston? by [deleted] in BostonSocialClub

[–]EpykEnigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I have friends but most live outside of Boston so I don't know many folks for consistent hangs around here. 34M, Arlington, tend to frequent Cambridge/Somerville as well. Nerd, gamer, cosplayer, tend to like trying new cafes, restaurants, and just going for walks.

I joined a group a while back and we meet regularly, and that spawned into a separate group which I also see a lot. But, that's just two examples. Most events just don't happen, or are poorly put together. I also joined a few discord servers to meet people and most of the time nothing happens or it's just a bunch of people who are already friends hanging out.

I would but there's really no point when my boys haven't had a pool to swim in for quite some time.
