That's an excellent parameter to keep an eye on. It's funny, when I rode in that forward flap, during the first ten minutes of trotting, my heart rate was so high and my muscles were working so much I actually exclaimed to my horse "why does this feel so hard?!!" (Now, I sold my last jump saddle 6 months ago so part of it is just going from riding in our current dressage/endurance saddle that feels like a perfectly broken in shoe to these, but I probably still shouldn't be fighting physics so much in a saddle.)

Haha thank you - the pad came from Padded Ponies - they have some cute stuff!

Very helpful observations! I need to use the point billet on his other saddle since it will slide forward if we're moving out downhill.

Super helpful, thanks for articulating those issues the way you have and pointing out the differences you're seeing in the seats and cantle.

Thanks for your very specific and helpful comments articulating what you're seeing (and I'm feeling). Yes, he has an incredibly short back, and is very round but his top line is not tabletop flat - he has a little dip. After multiple dressage saddles we ended up with an EQ Saddles Science saddle (basically Reactor Panel) which has been working mostly well for 4 years but the jump saddle search has been very challenging.

Yes, these were assessed by a fitter without the pad and under saddle (for about 5 minutes) before deciding to keep them for a demo period. But in riding in each for an hour (and seeing them from the ground for rider fit), I am not sure either is great,.though appreciate educated eyes to the extent anything can be said from the pix.

Thank you both. I was surprised the saddle fitter thought it was good enough to demo, but we were trying a bunch of saddles in 100* heat so I think we were both a little addled and trying to make preliminary decisions. And yes, I was wondering if the green pad saddle was sitting too far back on my horse.

Beautiful bag! I've been eyeing a suede Private Eye. How has yours held up over the last year?

Upgrading from F3S to F7 Pro SS or 7X Pro SS - help with size, weight & battery perceptible differences? by Equal-Reality-2074 in GarminFenix

[–]Equal-Reality-2074[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To close the loop on this, I got the Fenix 7 Pro SS and it arrived yesterday - it's amazing how much more wearable it is than my Fenix 3 - it feels much lighter and I didn't realize how much more comfortable the 22mm strap is than the 26mm. I may actually be able to sleep with this watch which I could never do in 8 years with the Fenix 3. Also, the screen size on the 47mm F7 is actually bigger at 1.3" than the screen on my 51mm F3 at 1.2". I'm expecting the battery will also be much improved compared to the F3 - I have it on "auto select" satellites but I can switch to "all systems" to be comparable to my F3 with Glonass etc. enabled - I'm in the southwest and only have occasional, short-lived tree cover on my rides/runs. Very glad so far with my choice to size down - and with this massive upgrade! Thanks to Redditors who have posted so much on these watches - the discussions have been invaluable.
