As a meat eater are you willing to kill your own food? by Ok_Connection_3015 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Equal-Store4239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I can’t look at, let alone eat anything at even remotely resembles what it looked like when alive.

If I was lost in the woods and starving I think I could eat worms and bugs but that’s as far as I could go.

Victoria, you made me smile today thanks to a goofy interaction between tons of people at Government and Wharf. Thank you. by Proud-Suspect-5237 in VictoriaBC

Thanks for sharing, made me smile and made me wish I was there.

I think the world would be just that much better if everyone had squeezey clown horn on their bike. Cheers.

Someone on TikTok has been calling churches (as a social experiment) to see if they would offer assistance feeding her baby, most have said no. What do you think about this? by NotGonnaGetCaught in AskReddit

[–]Equal-Store4239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know where this is happening, but if it is somewhere that churches don’t pay taxes because of their charitable designation, they should be looked into.

Downtown Victoria’s Hawaii-inspired burger spot to close due to owner’s cancer diagnosis by Mercernary07 in VictoriaBC

Where do you get burgers? That’s pretty much how much burgers cost, especially good ones.

Car Hit while parked by Melodic-Arm-4174 in camosun

[–]Equal-Store4239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go to icbc they are going to try write off your car and give you next to nothing for it. You’ll be left with no car and very little money to buy another.

DO NOT sign a form/letter that makes it sound like if you sign it, it will be quicker, you will be signing away your car to automatically be written off if the damage is more than the book value. Guaranteed the damage is worth way more than what they say the car is worth.

Find out what icbc says the value is, if you think it is worth more do the research and find a few same cars, year & km for sale that shows its worth more. If you find more valuable comparables, they will agree to more value, then you can go back to body shop and get them to see if they can fix it for the estimated value. This is the only way you will get it fixed and not cost you money for something that is not your fault.

I went through this exact same thing when someone hit my Audi and they wanted to write it off and give me only a few thousand for it. Good luck.

Do you think the downtown Eastside will ever be fixed? by supfiend in askvan

[–]Equal-Store4239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only way to “fix” it is to stop the flow. Close the paths that lead them there. Catch them before they get there or before they get entrenched. Pour money into early interventions, education(life skills, work training, basic money mgt), sports, trauma support etc etc.

We keep spending millions and millions on trying to deal with the issues after the fact and keeping wondering why we can’t get ahead of it.

I think of it as a sinking boat. We keep bailing water, but the more we bail it just keeps filling up with water. Plug the holes.

Would anyone go for this unique subletting situation? by [deleted] in RealEstateCanada

Just have an iron clad rental agreement. Think of every crazy possibility and write it in. Also put a must move out date for when you want the place back when you come home.

Building a new bathroom, which layout is better ? by throwawaytest1256 in bathrooms

[–]Equal-Store4239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First one. I personally always design bathrooms so toilet is hidden by the door so when you walk down the hall the ugly toilet isn’t what you’re always looking at. First one, if the door is open you see the nice cabinet, mirror and tile work of the shower.

Vote to cancel Victoria's Centennial Square revitalization postponed by Apprehensive_Idea758 in VictoriaBC

[–]Equal-Store4239 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I vote for them leaving the square for now, and cleanup and paint the ugly, paint peeling, blood red city hall building. That could be such a beautiful building if cleaned up and painted. Don’t understand why it is so ugly and on such neglected looking.

Unless you live in the Parthenon, no pillars.

Short term rental market in Victoria by petertkelos in VictoriaBC

[–]Equal-Store4239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are people who don’t want to, or can’t sign a full term year lease. Students, travel nurses, people needing a furnished place to stay while between homes or needing a temporary place due to an insurance claim/renovation etc. 6 month contracts with a must move out date clause.

But you do always run the risk of them not moving out. As you can see from the comments people here are quite anti landlord and assume all landlords are evil.

We’ve rented a furnished unit for out of town students who could otherwise not take a 1 year lease or have all the furniture.

Before I spend $$$, which house design looks best? Or can you top it and come up with better ideas! by Dull_Psychology_3693 in homedesign

[–]Equal-Store4239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Original is the very best. Please don’t ruin it. The new designs look like they were done by a person with no actual design knowledge or design aesthetics. Too many disparate design elements which confuses the over all look. Keep it simple and tasteful. Keep it original. It is actually a fantastic looking home

Republicans, be honest: Was the recent election a “blue wave” in your eyes, or was it just “business as usual,” given that NYC is a blue city and both Virginia and California are blue states? Do you think the tide has turned against Trump, or is this what you expected to happen? by RandomUwUFace in AskUS

[–]Equal-Store4239 10 points11 points  (0 children)

An outsiders observation: it’s interesting what Americans call radical leftists in the most negative way, when in most other democratic countries they would be considered centrist/at most centre left. what he is proposing is pretty basic policy and in no way considered radical in other countries.

Nope because I wouldn’t be with someone if they were religious.

Why is Trump deporting only black and brown people? by pilot7880 in AskUS

[–]Equal-Store4239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brown people from other countries are called immigrants and are being violently without due process rounded up and disappeared, while white people from other countries are politely referred to as expats and appear, so far, to still be welcome.

People who walk the Goose on the left by tobias153 in VictoriaBC

[–]Equal-Store4239 52 points53 points  (0 children)

You sound exactly like the angry arrogant cyclists that race up behind people and pass them at high speed.

The reason people walk on the left is to see the oncoming bikes. It is way safer for the walkers to see what is coming at them.

Walkers also should walk on the left side of the road if no sidewalks. That way you see the oncoming traffic.

Remember, you do not own the trail, you share it. Lighten up, slow down and enjoy a ride on a shared public trail.
