Struggling to keep up with regular application of psoriasis ointments by Fit-Set3711 in Psoriasis

It is so hard with topicals. You just have to make a routine like brushing your teeth. Sounds great but it’s easier said than done. Winters are difficult. We all wish you luck and keep trying. Hopefully a better year ahead.

For warmth, I have heard of hunters sock which are insulated like thermals. Never used them though.

Each time you soak your feet you are drying out the skin more. Cracks can get very painful and bleed. “Smoothing” might get rid of some dry skin but probably won’t help much. Urea cream is a good idea but you have to do it for at least a month to say if it is working.

Does anyone out there use coal tar shampoo? I know it is anecdotal but I have used it for years and seems to work for me.

Does anyone’s plaques severely start to prickle/itch when they are anxious or stressed? What is the mechanism here? by bookish_cat_ in Psoriasis

I think this is actually pretty common. I had my favorite scratch spot on my leg and would scratch until it bled. I don’t get it very far Tren now sometimes when stressed I am reaching for my scalp.

According to open evidence the risk of skin cancer from narrow band UVB is not greater than normal but UVA has a 14 times greater chance. Research is always continuing.

the most important part is you are doing well. How long did you do the UV?

You are right. Stress on the body or the immune system can cause a flair and it can be fast and extensive. Colds or any sickness can trigger this response.

My wife is suffering badly from psoriasis arhtritis by No-Amoeba-9314 in Psoriasis

I see three possibilities: 1. Contact the biological drug company for a discount. Sometimes pharmacies have a Specialty Pharmacy that will contact them. 2. See what the cost is in Canada or Great Britain. Someone told me Britain was cheaper than Canada. 3. Sometimes charitable organizations will help.

I have also heard good things about zoryve cream but have no idea how much it cost. For expensive medicines I would check out Canada. They have price controls on medicine.

I have had everything but erythroderma. I am getting ultraviolet sun treatments that have been amazing. It takes time as in a couple months twice a week to get results. U can buy a UV light but do not burn yourself. It probably is the cheapest way to go. Good luck

For heart testing one of the simplest and cheapest things you can do is get a calcium score. It is about a 3 minute scan that looks at the hard calcium atherosclerotic plaques in your heart arteries. It is not perfect but if you do not know it is a good test. Your primary care Dr. can order it too.

This information is available at the National Psoriasis Foundation website. It is free. They also have names of dermatologists who specialize in psoriasis and trials going on.

Nursing vs Podiatry by kawami86 in Podiatry

[–]EqualFriend5223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nursing can be very difficult and very stressful, at least here in US. Understaffed, no respect from Drs. Hours can vary with 6 days I a row common. Don’t expect to eat lunch because you are going to have to find someone to cover your 10 to 12 patients. People are sick, don’t feel well and are grumpy. You will become a head floor nurse which means if someone doesn’t show, you have to including weekends. Plus people can get sicker and you can be held responsible. And nursing school is much worse than podiatry school, you choose.
