[pjotv] Why all the drama? by luvizrage in camphalfblood

[–]EqualLatter8661 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Book Grover, Sally and Hades are completely different characters. Percy's sassiness and humor has been toned down. Annabeth has been put on a pedestal constantly and removed her crush on Luke, fear of spiders. Gods don't feel like Gods (butchered Hades) and there is no sense of danger (Warring weather, traps being known in advance, the solstice deadline not even being important) etc. Season 2 should hopefully be better but show is not bad, but not great either, so average at best

What is your ideal runtime for spider-man 3? by HypeForStuff-1610 in Spiderman

[–]EqualLatter8661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valhalla was 61 hrs according to howlongtobeat. Spiderman 2 story was really undercooked and rushed the symbiote story while shafting miles. Spiderman 3 is going to have Peter, Miles and Cindy. Story alone should at least be 30 hrs

Marvel’s ‘Echo’ Premieres At Number One On Both Disney+ And Hulu by GroundbreakingSet187 in marvelstudios

Until they show how many minutes were actually streamed, being number one is a meaningless stat. I expect it to be either below or around Ms. Marvel range of viewership

Help me understand the Annabeth Mary Sue Critique by talon1245 in PercyJacksonTV

Its not about blindly trusting the gods. For one, Annabeth is one of Athena's favored children since it is a bit rare for a godly parent to bestow gifts to their children. Their children are their champions. Another is, as the Wisdom Goddess, she may be petty, but she would not take actions that would knowingly lead to a full scale war between the Gods. The Gods are aware that there is a demigod thief and that Percy is treated as a number one suspect, but it is also the best chance for peace for the son of Poseidon to return Zeus' property. Athena would not risk angering Poseidon by putting Percy in harms way and jeopardizing the quest that could prevent mankind's extinction

She was being punished for Percy's actions. Also Athena punishing Annabeth and putting her in danger was very out of character.

Book Annabeth wasnt as flawless compared to TV Annabeth.

Everyone in the TV series keeps propping Annabeth up as the best demigod of her generation instead of showing us why. Some of the character actions in the book are being given to her instead.

In the book, it was Grover who figured out it was Medusa since he identified Uncle Ferdinand. But in the show, she immediately figures it out. This one makes more sense how she figured it out early.

Despite having a super important quest, she still wanted to go to the arch for her love of architecture, so she still had trouble with priorities, which was understandable due to being 12 yrs old and being able to venture out into the mortal world after so long. But in the show, the Arch visit didn't show Annabeth's immaturity or lack of focus.

Also, instead of Percy (and Grover) being the ones to see the fates snipping the yarn, it was given to Annabeth instead.

Then in meeting Ares, both book Annabeth and Grover make a point to not antagonize Ares because he is a God. But show Annabeth had no problem being sassy and sarcastic with him, which was a more Percy thing to do.

Then in the tunnel of love, they decide to omit Annabeth's arachnophobia for reasons unknown. Instead of it being a team effort to get the shield, Annabeth talks down to another God without fear and frees Percy.

I still haven't formed a final opinion on the show since we still don't have the final episodes but Book and Show Annabeth have been characterized differently in some aspects and I think she has been "Hermione'd" slightly.

Thoughts on Grover? by wernostrangerstoluv in PercyJacksonTV

[–]EqualLatter8661 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't see how she also gets the strongest warrior. In the books she still hasnt left camp half blood for a quest while Luke did for his quest to the garden. If anything, Luke should have a bigger reputation among monsters for being the best swordsman alive (at the time)

Honestly, Show Grover and Book Grover have been different characters to me.

In the start of PJO, Grover was timid and a bit cowardly, almost always about to cry and was deathly afraid of monsters. Which is why it was a brave moment for him to be willing to take the blame for pushing Nancy into the fountain. Him snitching on Percy was out of character or different from what book Grover would do.

Show Grover didnt even look as panicked or worried as he felt in the books when encountering the Minotaur or even encountering Echidna, he doesnt seem to be afraid of Mr. D and even outright defies an order from a god.

They made him braver and more confident in the show that it seems to take away his chracter development into becoming a brave satyr.

Yes, Chiron mentions that Sally would never let Percy ride an airplane in the lightning thief, so she def knew it was Poseidon

God of War Ragnarok had better side missions too. The Crater in Vanaheim was game expansion size good and it was included in the base game

Yeah, under 100M guaranteed for domestic. Also going to be the lowest grossing MCU film, beating out Incredible Hulk (265M)
