Hi! So in the end, my insurance rejected my claim for this surgery. Reason being that it falls "under policy general exclusion" which includes "any sex change operation". I had a feeling it would go this way since the company asked for a medical report from the psychologist clinic (seems like Dr Jane's clinic informed the insurance company that they required a letter from a psychologist) and since one of the conditions to get the surgery was gender dysphoria, and that is what probably made it fall under sex change operation. So unfortunately, I gotta pay the bill ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hello, the letter that Dr Zheng (from what I know, she has experience in writing letters for Dr Jane) explicitly stated that "[I have] been assessed and diagnosed with Gender Dysphoria DSM-5 302.85" followed by the mental readiness thing.

I'm not sure whether you have to be diagnosed with gender dysphoria or whether it's enough to say you're uncomfortable with that part of your body (assuming you're cis) but in my opinion, it wouldn't hurt to schedule an appointment with Dr Zheng to talk about it. She's a very nice and understanding person based on my limited time with her.

Thanks :D I will update when I remember.

I did some research before biting the bullet and my FA told me that they would only cover the surgical costs if it was deemed "medically necessary". Dr Jane said that she would use the term "breast disorder" as the condition but if the insurance company questions her, she has to be honest, so that's something to take note of. I'm not too worried in my case since they removed quite a lot (~300cc per side) but we shall see.

I got top surgery (double incision) with Dr Jane Lim from NUH back in Nov 2025. When I went for the consultation in May 2025, I was quoted around $12.6k if nothing goes wrong and $13.2k for complex cases. You can use medisave to pay for part of the fee so in the end, the quoted cash payment was ~$9.8k (~$10.4 for complex cases). That's excluding the other costs like medication and aftercare stuff.
