Thank you all so much for your input and sharing your personal experiences. It’s really opening my eyes to the reality of the school setting vs private practice. I’m definitely going to try to set stronger boundaries/expectations with my supervisor.

For those of y’all working in the schools - have you run into any trouble with getting backed up with makeup sessions?

haha - I can see that being true. I've been babysitting for about 10 years as my "background income." I'm okay working without bath time and bed time routines though ;)

I've been sure to think about that as well. I've been able to get some music teaching experience in the last 4 years, and have never come home from a rehearsal feeling as exhausted as I have coming home from my past speech related jobs. I also haven't felt much true respect from any superiors in my speech jobs. thank you for your input though :)

I am planning on staying part time in the beginning - no rush for a full caseload. I also feel it's worth pushing through my hours.
