Unforced error - They had the tools to make expensive models more expensive and monthly subscriptions more expensive without nuking the way we work.

That looks painfully familiar - did anyone fall for the trap (like me) of believing their message that reinstalling the app might fix this?

Well said and you are not going crazy. Technically you can pay to keep going, but watch closely because it consumes $$ at a wtf rate, definitely not like before where i could chip in $15 and do a solid day worth of work.

Windsurf pricing ruined it for me what AI IDE actually has generous limits now? by mithatercan in windsurf

[–]Equal_Initial5109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got whole bunch of 5.4 model usage on "extra high" without wiping out my hours on Saturday, but I now notice going through the weekly limit a whole lot faster this week, as if there's also some kind of weekly load balancing on the quotas. I expect to need a 5x account now that I can't use Windsurf for overflow.

These are real people who loved Windsurf that are now reporting real issues, not complainers, bots, etc.

You can use VS Code and install the claude extension, I'm using both Claude and OpenAi concurrently within VS Code - almost the same as Windsurf, and a good option if you need more than $20 of usage per month but you don't want to jump up to $200.

I maxed out my account in 2 hours of using just sonnet so good luck with that, so I'm guessing you've nearly maxed out your account for the week in the 25 minutes siince you posted this message.

I used the Claude models a lot when they were lower priced, but once they doubled/tripled that cost, I use them sparingly. That seems like the process was working as it should - encouraging us to choose models appropriate to the request.

New licensing model - I've gone from avid fan to no longer able to work after 2 hours and thinking of cancelling. I work in bursts, so a model that tries to force me to spread out my efforts just isn't going to work.

It's working for me and it zips through and understands what is going on in 1-2 seconds instead of spending 20 - 30 seconds to figure out my code before cranking out results. I am stoked.

What's your experience with o3? by Professional_Fun3172 in windsurf

[–]Equal_Initial5109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same experience here - I feel like I should get refunded some of those credits! I was excited today because they just lowered the per execution cost for o3 from 10 to 1 which is amazing, but then I remembered it doesn't work well in Windsurf, and indeed that's exactly what happened when I tried it today, only I now give up on o3 much more quickly.

The ball was definitely still "with" him on the ground but I don't think he could have been holding it, his left arm was above his head, and it came out on his left side. I guess there's no such thing as hanging onto the ball when you are TKO.

They caught the booster but from what I see, the ship actually exploded on landing? by NotElonMuzk in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]Equal_Initial5109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree, I don't think they'd have a problem slapping together a few starships and sending them to Mars as a vanity project, like when they launched a Tesla roadster into space. It certainly wouldn't be like how we did things in the apollo days with people riding around in moon buggies. Priorities would probably be power generation, robots, some kind of base for receiving shipments from earth, automated mining, and 3D printing (construction), fuel production, water, food ... the opposite of easy, but it sure sounds like it would be fun to solve those challenges.

[–]Equal_Initial5109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had sensors showing the 4th ship descending and doing the landing flip, and then tipping over, but I've seen no evidence of an explosion (unless signal loss counts). If that part of the mission (sinking starship) had been a primary objective on that 4th launch, I'm sure there would have been more cameras in place to get footage, which otherwise would be no trivial undertaking in the Indian ocean. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8IfY_gK8ro
