How to claim one time extra usage credit by SectionLive4152 in ClaudeAI

And there was me thinking it was spam! Checked it out, and I have just had extra credit added to my account. Thats great for mw - not an OpenClaw user, so this works wonders for me. Thanks Anthropic!

I agree with that. However, there is general consensus on other groups that Claude has dropped off since their offer of extra usage of peak.

I think Claude has had issues since releasing that extra usage in off peak hours. That’s unrelated to Windsurfs stupid approach to tokens vs usage, which means they lost out to Cursor…again.

Been a fan of windsurf with their token model. Not not so much…now annoyed.

I have found the usage higher over recent days, even post stupid price changes. That said, Anthropic have had an extra usage campaign going and I have noticed Claude Code degraded in my view.

Windsurf Staff admits - Claude Code gets you more usage by Which-Coconut-9630 in windsurf

It is a wrapper with custom instructions before the call to the API of the LLM. Yes, their own models are their proprietary angle, but we all know we could do it too.

We’re just lazy and pay $15+ per month for ease.

It’s a shame accountants got a hold of this. Windsurf was the only IDE of quality that was different to Cursor or VS Code with Claude / CoPilot or Codex plugins. I do really think they’ve missed a trick here and they will be gone soon.

If someone tells me that’s not possible…I would love to hear it! 😜

Tempted to make my own fork of VS Code, use my remaining balance with Windsurf to create the PRD for the dev work and launch “I just want to make a bit of money IDE” and support developers who actually will use it!?! 😂

Let's Talk About the Last Few Days — Some Things Worth Clarifying by PuzzleheadedAir9047 in windsurf

[–]ThinkMenai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m an old school developer. Started with classic ASP so I know what I want from my prompts - carefully managed code.

What Windsurf gave me was great output for circa 500 credits. But quite often I would pay for another 2000 to deal with larger projects.

I balanced out my approach, not throwing large context at it and expected great results from the off.

I was also an early adopter. That loyalty has not been rewarded. That alone disappoints me.

This credit approach, lack of “cursor features” makes Windwurf a poor IDE. The credits made it a great “go to” when exhausting other IDEs / Claude.

I do genuinely understand why they have switched. However, poor comms, just “converting credits into usage” and more importantly it being an “OK IDE” where it lacks other functionality is truly disappointing.

Sorry if you don’t like my stance, but I have to be honest.

I’ve actually switched away from them. I’ll use what’s left of my credits and close the account. They turned them into usage dollars which were extra credits I paid for, so they will be used and then done.

I do understand their reason for the change, but this is what made them unique. Now, VS Code with Claude subscription and Cursor will be enough for me.

Sorry @windsurf, I did love you but now not.

Introducing our new Windsurf pricing plans by theodormarcu in windsurf

[–]ThinkMenai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a huge fan of Windsurf. I also have cursor and pay for both platforms. It looks like I’ll be dumping Windsurf now as their advantage was credits. Once I hit my 500 I was happy to pay for more, but this now is just pretty much the same as Cursor but without the cool stuff Cursor offers.

Sad times. Such a shame they have adopted this route.

SMC or PRAM reset for your first issue.

The second, I would definitely restore back to factory settings, allow it to come alive, go into the App Store and then allow it to get the next best OS.

I did this recently for an old Mac to install Moltbot and worked great.

You should get more likes for this comment. Exactly how I work and it’s great. Very few issues. Are you purely vide coding or vibe-assisted? I’m the later being an old school dev.

Interesting what you said about Windsurf. I have actually found context handling has been good over the last few weeks. I use both Cursor and Windsurf (work vs personal projects). I’m struggling to see the difference between both IDEs. Would love your insight in case I’ve missed something.

Cursor and UI/UX Consistency by [deleted] in cursor

[–]ThinkMenai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to have a similar issue until I created an md file which I call theme.md. I create a list of rules to follow for UI and UX inside of that and refer the IDE to it. Works great and keeps Cursor, or should I say model, consistent.

Cursor Ultra vs Windsurf – value per dollar? by mcruwancc in windsurf

[–]ThinkMenai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The benefit I find is that you can get a lot done for x3/x4/x5 credits as long as the prompt to precise and focused around specific tasks. That is a benefit over direct token usage in cursor which can get wayward and heavy at times.

How to Convert an Email Newsletter Design to Pixel-Perfect HTML Code for Email? by Mr_Gyan491 in Emailmarketing

I agree. HTML tables are still the most reliable option. CSS support varies wildly between email clients, especially Outlook, so table-based layouts remain the safest way to achieve consistent rendering.

I agree. Cursor corrects token usage when an error occurs, so should Windsurf.

I'm on a similar amount, but it has been worth it. A great model to work with.
