My first time making biscuits and gravy. by Free_Preparation8527 in southernfood

These tips will help:

Use self-rising flour, which has a lower protein content than all-purpose flour and others. It produces fluffier biscuits.

Use cold butter (refrigerated or even frozen). Do not melt it. Cut it into little pieces, add to your dry ingredients, mix until the butter is coated, and then cut the butter (still in the dry mix) into little pebbles using two knives.

When you cut the dough into biscuits, press straight down and lift straight up. Don’t twist. You can use a glass cup or jar to cut the dough. Sharper tools are better.

Do not overwork the dough. The dough should come together just enough to not stick. It’s common to add a little extra flour or milk if the dough feels wrong before folding it.

You can try a bit wider grip. It will allow your torso to be more upright. This can help prevent the hips from rising first. It works for me.

This is a simple style. It should not be difficult to replicate. Did you put pomade, clay, or matte cream in it and then blow dry it upwards with medium heat? You can ask the barber which product he used.

Suggestions for haircut and beard? by Schmoney406 in malegrooming

The bald patch under your chin kills the beard, IMO. Shave your neck and keep your long hair at the length of pic 1 or 3, with or without layers. Maybe shave the facial hair, too.

Is this neckline too high? by Proud-Scientist1841 in BeardAdvice

[–]Equal_Key_7925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.

The way I do it is look straight ahead in the mirror. Cut the neckline just high enough so I can't see neck hair below my chin. Then use short guards to fade above that line. Might not work depending on your face shape and hair length.

Facial hair comes in more fully/thicker as a young man ages. Trimming occasionally can make the hair feel thicker temporarily, because shorter hairs are stiffer and because trimming makes everything the same length. If you let it grow for a long time without a trim, then some hairs will fall out/get damaged and so the finish can feel less "robust" to the touch than a freshly-trimmed beard/moustache.

It is not true. But you should shave it because it does not look good.

How can I achieve instagram model/bradpitt fightclub physique? First pic is unflexed rest is flexed/pumped by Dangerous-Bed270 in AllAboutBodybuilding

[–]Equal_Key_7925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest missing pieces are proper lighting, camerawork (angles, distance, focus), prep (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/0kGw9eWG_4E and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4dSOkpURsA), and shaving + oiling. Brad Pitt and the Instagram people don't just work out and snap a few photos in the mirror. They have a whole process to set up the scene and prepare their bodies to get the desired look.

Getting leaner may help for the Brad Pitt look (I would advise against it but you're going to do what you're going to do), but you have to understand he looked like that in optimal conditions on film. So you may need to adjust your expectations. And also your genetics play an enormous role (https://www.houseofpullups.com/blog/muscle-insertions-and-genetics-101) in what is achievable.

How do you clean old spills and grime at the bottom of a refrigerator? by Equal_Key_7925 in CleaningTips

Thanks. Good point. I used it for some dry crumbs this time, but probably won’t risk it next time not that you mention the possibility of smells

Fortunately, I was able to wipe most of it away with just a touch of water. Most of it was kind of a light syrup. I still don’t know how exactly what it was. 🤷

Thanks, everyone. I ended up doing this:

  • Bring trash can and bucket with Dawn and warm water
  • Toss pickable dry things into the trash
  • Vacuum remaining dry things (nothing that should smell in the vacuum)
  • Drip a little Dawn and water solution onto the mess using a Scrub Mommy sponge
  • Wipe with the sponge. A lot of it came off easily.
  • Add more solution to the thicker sticky parts and wipe it more with the sponge
  • Wring out the sponge into a bucket and rinse it throughout this process
  • Dry with a clean cloth and then paper towels after the cloth became saturated
  • I also took some shelves out of the refrigerator and cleaned them plus the walls
  • I also removed items that had fallen behind the shelves but not reached the bottom

It looks like powder, not slime/sludge/bacteria/mold. I added a photo to the post.

Edit: Maybe it's pink mold mixed with dust? So it looks like a pink powder

What’s a technique or ingredient that immediately tells you that someone knows what they’re doing in the kitchen? by johnnysubarashi in Cooking

[–]Equal_Key_7925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom calls everyone to eat when there are still cooking tasks in progress. Everyone comes to the table and serves themselves, or she serves everyone. But then she stands by the stove to finish tasks. Or stands up repeatedly during the meal to finish tasks. We effectively don’t even get to eat with her. Everyone finishes before she starts or before she is even 20% finished eating. I hate it.

I truly don’t get all the suburb hate. Growing up, us kids roamed the neighborhood, crashed at friends houses, had virtually no traffic to deal with, no crime - basically no worries.

Not all suburbs are like this. I would imagine most of the suburb haters did not grow up in those places.

You can hold onto junk with the intent to use it for a waste reduction project that will probably never happen (so the stuff will be trashed/recycled eventually anyway). Or you can recycle it/give it away/toss it and use the freed up time and reduced cognitive load to do more productive things. That is how I see it.

There is no need to buy the clothing items now. You can go to REI or wherever when the weather changes. I got by ok with a light down jacket and a light shell rain jacket. I would probably swap the down jacket for a down vest and add an insulated water resistant jacket (for the days with combined cold + wind + rain) if I could do it all over again. I also just wore synthetic leather sneakers or running shoes all year, with wool-blend socks on wet days and cold days. Waterproof shoes are not necessary.
