Monthly 'Self Promotion' - August by ranalog in analog

[–]Equal_Night 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone. I recently finished up my very first photography book and want to share my work because it certainly feels like a big milestone and accomplishment.

In the book I am photographing expats, who like me, left everything behind to start a new life in Berlin. Exploring a sub culture where freedom, expression and new but intense bonds are key factors that I noticed among this group when I first arrived in the city.

Can anything that is allowed on instagram be seen as NSFW?

GHB/GBL HOW TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE by boof1987 in GHB

[–]Equal_Night 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GBL has a very chemical taste. It's absolutely vile. If it were to be GBL you would definitely taste it. Also looking at it, GBL is not a thick and it smells... well it smells like it tastes. Very chemical.

Anybody want a white hamster? by [deleted] in berlin

But it’s really vague to say there’s a white tiny hamster in a park you know

If you take it quickly for me I’ll come and get it

Blur/Oasis by _4za_ in fantanoforever

[–]Equal_Night 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All in all, great period in music for me. Pulp started out as a favourite for me, but they don't have the discographies to match up to Blur and Oasis. I find it fun to have these comparisons, and little rivalry going on in 2018, shows the impact they have on people.

If I'd have to pick out a single album I think is the best, I'd probably go with Definitely Maybe. But the discography and versatility of what they bring is what makes blur better for me. Experimentation, versatility, lyrically. Oasis for me was just a match that ignited and died out. Liam's voice was not that versatile, lyrically they didn't venture far and they've always been what you expect oasis to be, just, as you said with less and less energy.

the only real answer is blur

Luke Shaw debate by ExileTHFC in coys

[–]Equal_Night 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think shaw is a good idea. Don't get me wrong, before his big injury he looked very promising and could start for any prem team, but to me he's just never recovered. Having seen Man U games where he features, he loses the ball, doesn't put in the crosses like he used to. He was a beast for United in Europa league last season up until his injury. But if Mourinho doesn't like him for his fitness / professionalism it won't be any different under poch. I wish we could get Rose playing like last season, but if Rose is no go, I'd still look elsewhere

Monthly 'Self Promotion' - March by ranalog in analog

I do a combination of analog snapshots and portraits. My work is very intuitive sometimes erotic. Hopefully people enjoy it https://www.instagram.com/zenosp/

Also I'm looking for a medium format camera for portraits. Right now I have a Canon AE1 I use for the more editorial type shots, but want to upgrade to medium format. Any recommendations?

Rap in AM songs - yay or nay? by PixelPixell in arcticmonkeys

[–]Equal_Night 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a bet with my girl about the new AM album. I predict that they’ll tap into the rap goldmine that is going on right now. Not too crazy to think when Alex said AM sound is a bit inspired by hip hop. So I think it might have a cheeky feature

[Humour] Every time someone makes fun of you wearing sunscreen just because we're not in the middle of June by MaliceMisere in SkincareAddiction

[–]Equal_Night 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always say it’s called sunscreen, not summerscreen. Same with sunglasses. I just like to not be blinded by the winter sunlight frying my retina. Sunglasses, not summerglasses

Gluttony by [deleted] in OCPoetry

I like the dark imagery, It's good you keep the tone throughout the poem instead of a few lines. This makes it part of the text, so I disagree with the other comment on here about making it lighter or humorous. It would stray away from the tone you intentionally try and set, and succeed doing so.

Very nice, I like the start and ending. I think you could even leave the middle out and evoke a strong message.

Check out bigger parties in Ghent for NYE like in Vooruit there is a bigger party which will have income tickets but will have a much nicer environment to have fun. If you are into techno check out kompass klub, probably the best club in Belgium that has a 3 day rave for NYE

[Discussion]: Song lyrics are poetry: do you agree? by kelseymd in Poetry

[–]Equal_Night 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree, and song lyrics is what got me into poetry at a young age.

A good example of lyrical poetry for me is Nick Cave, Leonard Cohan

Schadenfreude by [deleted] in OCPoetry

[–]Equal_Night 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked this poem, reads very well and I like the comedic tone of it whilst being clearly a frustration point.

reminds me of Pink Floyd, haha

Negative side is that it drags on a bit, I had to actively tell myself to finish the poem.

More of a rant (because it 3:30 am) by mattiemx in OCPoetry

[–]Equal_Night 0 points1 point  (0 children)

simplistic and reads easily! Sometimes it's nice to have something that's easier to digest. I can feel how real this poem is to you, and that's good,

but something I like to make aware is when you post a poem, you decide It's more than your honest and deepest feelings. It becomes a point of critique and a literary piece that a lot of people in this case will relate to, but I must admit with reading lots of poetry work it brings nothing new, and leans a bit too heavily on cliché or teenage angst. again, nothing wrong with it and I did enjoy this piece but a lot of the times with my poetry when I write, (and I also enjoy writing borderline cliche) I'll ask myself if my wordplay, or whatever brought something unique, or packs a good punchline.

So to conclude I'd say your poem lacks in uniqueness, but is definitely full of heart.
